Weightlifting does not necessarily have to be bodybuilding, with the goal of looking like a muscular monster.
The best thing with it is the health benefits of using and activating muscles that needs to be activated and trained.
Since many people today work with computers in offices and are traveling by train, cars etc. a good way of compensating for the lack of muscular activity is weightlifting. Can be boring yes but still necessary for health.
Yoga and running are also good for muscles, but to add in some weightlifting to that is not exactly wrong or bad for advancement. Especially for someone who don't lift heavy things normally, and for men in general whose testosterone levels have gone down historically since we don't lift/move around as much as we once naturally did.
