From a psychological perspective, this is actually called mirroring or emotional contagion, where we unconsciously imitate the behaviors, mannerisms, or energy of those we're around. This is actually a normal part of how humans connect, but in sensitive individuals, it can feel overwhelming or all-consuming.
As an empath, you might pick up on others' feelings or ways of being without even realizing it. Closing the chakras can be helpful in mitigating otherwise overwhelming sensitivity and from spiritual attacks; however, this should only be a temporary solution.
Instead, focus on thoroughly cleansing your chakras and aura, raising your energies high, and building a strong aura of protection. This, in turn, will help you manage overwhelming sensitivity more effectively in the long run. Just keep at it and stay committed and loyal to these practices, and you will reap their benefits - and then some.
