I'm guessing answer is probably 7th. But maybe other chakras help as well, like 6th, what about throat?

Throat makes you logical and emotional both it seems, so will it help, yes or no?

The point of trance is to silence the logical side of the brain, so no, that wouldn't help, nor would a strong throat chakra be a detriment to entering trance.

It's not something you can get as a byproduct of working on another part of your soul, it's a skill like any other and takes practice. That's all there is to it.

It can be argued each or almost each chakra will help so that just makes it apparent that you're going about it the wrong way. Having a strong base chakra helps stay grounded while having a strong solar chakra can give the confidence to know what you're doing is working.

Focus more on your whole body while being relaxed and having a clear mind. Also keep trying. Doesn't matter if you don't get it down right away because eventually you will and every time you practice you get closer to mastering it.

A trance is just another way of saying be relaxed.
The mind is at its most powerful when your are calm and relaxed.
Sit comfortably and focus on breathing deeply and calmly to achieve a "trance" state.
Deep trance = being fully relaxed.

A trance is different than just being relaxed. It lowers the brain waves and puts the practitioner into an altered state of consciousness that's more conductive to all sorts of spiritual work and hypnosis when done properly.

I disagree and view this as needlessly overcomplicating something simple.
A trance does not "alter". It relaxes and focuses.
Being relaxed and focused makes you more psychically receptive and connects you with the feminine part of the mind. This is what is referred to as a trance and is what helps in magic.
How do you change your brainwaves? Think about the when you do work on you chakras.
You take deep steady breathes (to relax) and focus on the chakra/ desired outcome.

Here is an article from HPs Maxine entitled Trance:
[/b]I know many of the instructions for meditation, spells and such on the JoS website state that one must go into a trance. Trance usually comes with just focusing the mind. It is not necessary to worry over going into a deep trance. Very few of us have ideal conditions. I have done many successful workings, in spite of having to deal with distractions, background noise and other annoying crap in my environment. The real key is persistence. The distractions do interfere, but persistence and perseverence will overcome them in the way that you are putting energy into something and the more energy you can put into your working, the more you keep bringing your mind back to focus, and the more you apply the energies, this eventually will overcome the distractions and the bit of energy they interfere with.

I personally have gotten stronger in spite of endless distractions in that I can focus my mind in spite of the distractions. With persistence, you will be able to ignore them. Doing a working after some breathing exercises, reciting a mantra, and/or physical yoga is an excellent time. People need to stop worrying about the trance part. It usually will come with the working and above all...persistence.

A trance is different than being in a relaxed state of mind. Im just pointing out to you, that this is an incorrect view.

Understanding this better may assist you in working with trance states. As having knowledge of the difference of a relaxed state of mind and what a trance does is important.

I don't understand why you guys were being so hostile to this guy, and why are you giving him basic advice like simply "practice" and that trance page on JoS? Isn't it obvious that he's already read those?

I can see why someone would have trouble entering a trance if their chakras are imbalanced. Maybe if their higher chakras are weaker, they would have trouble relaxing etc. Training particular chakras make you better at particular skills so I don't understand the hostility. In fact in some cases it might even be superior than training the skill. A person who has trouble with sexual orgasms probably has blockages in sacral chakra. Telling him to simply "practice" more sex doesn't solve the issue, he needs to empower this chakra and clean it.
