I grew up and matured reading Plato's Symposium. By now it has become my mentor.
It is because of him that I can no longer be content in love.
I tell you about him because I am so fascinated by him and he has taught me so much and I would like all of you here to understand that you don't have to settle for someone just because you don't want to be alone.
One of his first lessons is that love starts from physical beauty all the way to soul beauty, which have to lead to one goal: goodness.
He also talks about love in his Phaedrus. Love is an instrument of spiritual elevation. Earthly love (eros) that is, love tied to the senses is only the starting point and if it remains tied to the senses it is only illusory.
True love is that which goes beyond. When both lovers can see inside the person, they have the desire to know the person. That love is a search for truth. Plato tells us that that kind of love so deep can make the soul reach the highest elevation.
When people ask me why I never get into a relationship it is because of this. Love is not just the carnal love, the love that is dependent on the other person. love is something so deep that it should only lead to self-improvement, spiritual progress.
Never be satisfied, trust Plato.
Hail Plato!
Hail Zeus!
