I've been reading some books on yoga, which are generally good, but one teaching has me a bit puzzled.

These books preach that we must learn that we are not the body, but the soul, and that we must learn to separate the two, not considering ourselves the body, but the soul that inhabits it, one of the books I read also gave meditations for this, in general, all focused on you visualizing you as a soul, to understand that the body is just the place where you live, not you.

In theory, they seem interesting teachings, but in practice, it made me restless, here on the forum, it was constantly said that the goal of Yoga is a union of body and soul, physical and spiritual, and that the body is necessary and part of who we are.

This makes me think that these teachings of separating body and soul are corruption, they seem to me an attempt to inferiorize the body and place the soul as the only one necessary for evolution, on the other hand, this separation makes sense, because having the awareness that one is the spirit, not the body, the control over the body and its desires increases, because it is understood that it is not your desires, but the body's desires.

Opinions ? Can someone address this better ?

I also disagree with this. They say you are not the body, mind and ego. Instead, I think you are several things at once, you are all these things.

As you also noted, separation is about having control through management of the identification, attention, etc.

I recommend familiarizing yourself with the knowledge already avaiable on the Joy of Satan, Satan's Library and
Important Articles from JoS Ministry. We must process all information with a "Satanic Eye", to filter it through Satanic Knowledge.
In order that we're not deceived. So that we will not be lead astray, nor second-guess what we know as truth.

As you have already inferred, the claims of this book are false. Corrupt.
The Body is our Temple. Our greatest material possession.
We are as much our Body, as we are our Soul. We cannot advance without it.
The Body is the Physical Manifestation of the Soul in Three-dimensions.
DNA is the Hidden Blueprint of the Soul.

Considering that most people confuse their bodily functions and their body in general (a vehicle) being themselves (the driver) those teachings can be utilized to learn to differentiate between you, the driver and your body, the vehicle. In that sense, those teachings are correct, but like with most information during this age it is inevitable that harmful advice and outright lies are mixed in-between, sometimes out of ignorance and other times out of malice which is why endless study and cross-referencing is mandatory minimum.

Nonsense.
If we are just the soul, then why do we even have a body?

There are many layers of existence in our universe, intertwined. Just like the layers of an onion but connected and influencing one another.

The physical body is the expression of our existence on the physical layer of this universe, our soul an expression of us in the metaphysical.

The gods did not abandon their body. On the contrary, they immortalized it. Because the body IS the self. Same as the soul.

Which is why race and gender is important and the ignorance of them leads to death.

This is a infected teaching, that has truth in it.

The soul and the body is the SAME thing, just in another level/plane/dimension/understanding. When you live your everyday physical life, your mind should take place on the physical plane, focusing on the physical aspect of the world.

When you are meditating, your goal is to rise your mind to the astral(or higher) plane(called trance, but a bit more complicated than that) focusing on the astral aspect of the world, reaching your goal more efficiently. One can master switching one mind between these planes, and you should be focused on the right one in the right time.

This understanding comes from the above and the Crown chakra, which changes your fundamental view on life here.

You inhabiting the body, means that you inhabit this dimension of material existence. There is no inhabiting this world without inhabiting the body.

The only corruption in this, is the lower level of understanding this, which is an unreachable perspective in the current states.

Fundamentally everything is connected, yet you are here not there, yet you are your body still, yet everything is still an imaginative quest.

So the true purpose of these things is to entice you to seek more and further, and never to let you stagnate or be contempt with what you are or what you think you are.

These yogic teachings come to provoke you and make you uncomfortable. You see life in a way, yet there is another way. You say you are your body, yet you are not. You say you are not your body, yet you are. Everything has a respectable half truth and the other half is your responsibility to fulfill.

If you stay and try to discern reality on the threads of which she is made of, you will never get a full understanding, but only an infinite path of unfoldment.

So everything higher than a point, is not to be discerned, but lived and "become" - "them".

The most important point to understand, is to cherish your dimensional existence here and go further and advance and evolve.

A part of existence unfolds here for you, which is your body, and this body is the material dimension in itself. Another part of you unfolds in the next heaven, and so on and on. If a part is missing we sculp and create it. Each of these existences is a different existence and different matrix of life. For now your consciousness activates only in one, until you become spiritually competent and you activate in the spiritual side of the material too. Then there are other dimensionalities ever strange and far away from our mind, highly illogical. All of this is life all the way from the first dimension to the last. And each of these contain endless and infinite unfoldment.

I love your detailed response to this thread and I thank you for it.

There's a question bugging me though. Is the physical body not at its core an extension of the soul? Or is it separate? If someone living loses their soul would their body also perish?

I used to think they were one in the same but I'm not so sure of that now.

I've read that spiritual damage often results in physical detriment, such as with these inhuman people (some not even that) involved heavily in enemy mysticism.

Does this also mean that physical damage to the body can damage the soul? Say for instance it was self harm, drugs or such... would that be different than say an accident or an ailment?

Sorry to bombard you with all the questions and no pressure on answering them completely as this topic does extend beyond our immediate physical experience.
