I was talking to another pagan (not JOS) about Satanama being the most exalted name of Shiva and how it is used to fix problems, this was his reply:
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
A possible retort?
Satanama is not even a mantra it just means "The one hundred names" in Sanskrit. It was the proven fraud and cult leader, fake Yogi Bhajan that made up this claim which is why its not found anywhere else.
I used that mantra when I was training in the 3HO system of Bhajan. It does not accomplish anything except giving the mind something to focus on like a typical TM method. That can be done with any name, word or phrase. Bhajan was exposed by his own close associates as being a fraud out for money and cult followers. This being a mantra was based on his fraud claims of secret initiations. A person would be better off using Nama Shivaya for a mantra of Shiva that is an actual mantra and is found in the Veda's. That mantra is the exalted mantra of Shiva. Satanama is not. Shiva's number is five and his yantra is the five pointed star. Not one hundred. That is why Nama Shivaya relates to the number of five and the five elements.
