Question #4273: smoking can heal with some of Yoga?

You have to stop smoking. If you "fail" to stop smoking for a lot of time, a freeing working might be needed, but first try to simply resist.

All of the practices you mentioned help in improving your health by default, but smoking is like having a wrecking ball attached to yourself and as such there will be a ceiling for how much you can heal for as long as you continue smoking.

Perhaps you can slow down the effects of smoking by doing meditation practices, but damage will be done regardless. I understand that it's impossible to cut it off immediately, so I suggest you start decreasing the amount of cigarettes. For example, if you smoke 20 per day, you can decrease them to 18 and keep decreasing by 2 or more every week. You also need to find something to replace it with, so maybe weight-lifting or martial arts will help.

I smoke a lot and my question is: can I counteract the effects of smoking with practices such as hatha-yoga, kundalini-yoga, breathing exercises, chakra meditations, etc.?
You need to quit smoking in order to practice yoga effectively and be healthy.

Yes, you can do this placebo.

Get nicotine gums and stop inhaling any kind of smoke or vaping. Tobacco is to never be inhaled, that is guaranteed death. The practices will help to cease this habit, at the same time some stimulation will happen and your emotional attachments to these can challenge you a lot. This is because smoking embeds in memory, behavior, and the structures of the brain. You are looking at a few months of reorientation with the nicotine delivery, a period of relaxation, and ease to quit nicotine as well. Addiction to nicotine is different than the behavior addiction you have to inhaling smoke. As you cease the smoking part, this is one layer, while the nicotine is the last one.

Here, my thread on quitting smoking. A former heavy smoker, it's been 1 and a half years since I quit.

Once this is done, the breath of fire will help heal your lungs.

Side note: Everybody should be using the breath of fire in their routine daily regardless, as it improves your lung capacity. It's a guaranteed VO2 Max booster. Obviously, you need to pair with other VO2 max boosting activities like swimming, running, cycling and similar.
