Your will and motivation are built in time. Motivation is a momentary stimulation, that is just a natural mechanic of your brain and body, which is not always available and also is not enough to sustain yourself on its own. What you seek is a creative inspiration that births hope inside yourself.
Discipline isn’t fully dependent only on your willpower, but on your power to see the future with a creative lense and acting on it. Discipline is something no one is born with. Some are more able, some not, but all of us are able to progress this power in us.
Remember this and write it down:
Discipline is your ability to prioritize your future self needs and situations ahead of your present ones. You want a cigarette now, yet your future self is desperate to have had this ceased long ago. What sacrifice do you let either bless you or condemn you? However, to put this in practice, is to start very small.
Discipline is very addictive, more than cigarettes, and here is how you start this.
You will have to think about what you need tomorrow and prepare these things today. Prepare your clothes, prepare your coffee for example a night before, specific little things. Do these for yourself first. Think of this, as a gift of yourself towards yourself. You are loving yourself here. The next day, when you receive your coffee made by yourself with this in mind, when it is easier to get some clothes and so on, you will feel grateful.
The mechanism is this: sacrifice and love your future self. In the future self, have gratitude and love for your past self. In time, expand these little things to bigger ones. Step by step.
As much as you can, think about your future, however, not in idealized terms. Practical. Always think about you in the future. As a byproduct of doing this you will act and start being concerned about resolving these things.
Constantly remind yourself of this. You need to change your thought process. Your job is to fix things for yourself ahead of time. Use time for your own benefit, not as a victim or reactively.
You are not lost, you are not anything else but only missing some self-management and I hope with the above you can gather some momentum and you will see that this type of activity called Discipline will make your life very beautiful and will improve everything.

Having a motivated view and positive mindset, in essence relies on your responsibility of your thoughts. Be responsible on what you focus on, give attention, as you have to curate and select the ones that are proper, logical and those will benefit you in a real sense.
