Solve these issues and you will see a skyrocket in births!
1) Astronomical cost of living. Meaning everything is expensive you cannot afford anything.
If you work for 10 hours a day, and make a certain amount, rent, and other taxes, will take off most of your hard earned money. How can you afford kids this way?
The U.S. in its heyday, one person working could work to support an entire family.
2) Too much work. You cannot be a present father or mother if your work dictates your life and your schedule around it. I don't know many people who work 8 hours, realistically. Traffic, work obligations, etc. push it closer to 9/10 hours. Common scenario: To be able to afford a child, both parents need to work.
3) for Americans: Astronomical healthcare costs. You have many stories of women being charged tens and thousands of dollars for delivering a baby. If your baby has issues, say your baby is premature, and is expected to stay in the hospital, then expect the bill to run 6 figures.
This never used to be this way. Healthcare costs keep skyrocketing.
4). for Americans: No protections or safety nets. So once you have kids, you're forced to go to work, because health insurance is tied to your employment, and are unable to care for them, so you're forced to find child care. Who is going to take care of the baby? Child care is extremely expensive, as taking care of humans requires someone who is skilled and is able to nurture/cultivate them.
5) Many women complain that having a baby during these times where the world is headed to crap is a bad idea. The times are too stressful to have a baby. There is no guarantee that the child will have a good life. This is a legitimate fear.
This doesn't have to do with declining birth rates, but it's something to consider:
6) Burnt out moms. You will not believe how burnt out moms are because they go through it mostly alone. Some men wont help out because they're taught it's a feminine thing to do. Both of them go to work, so the work is piled on 2x for women!
It's not a crime to change a diaper. The good thing about this generation is that I've seen moms and dads are splitting work and are willing to do things when the other one is exhausted. That's what partnership is about. Men learned from the previous generations' mistakes and decided they want to be involved and active in their childs life. Yay men!
