October Freeing of the Soul - how is it valid?

I'm hoping to get some clarification about an upcoming date on the SS calendar to begin a freeing of the soul working. The calendar says to begin it the day before the new moon, which runs opposite of what the various JoS pages say about when to begin this working.

The site pages say to start it on a full moon or shortly after. The day before a new moon is obviously not near the full moon and hardly even waning anymore, so that's why I'm confused.

Freeing the soul workings can be done anytime of the waning moon, especially that halloween is a power date.
