In addition to God Rituals and the meditations on the JoS for connecting with the Gods (which, now from experience, I absolutely praise) I also have my own meditations I do. This one should be done in addition to the usual, not to replace it.
Some of my meditations are my own idea, some I am sure came from inspiration from the Gods.
This specific meditation is one for understanding not just the God, but specifically the intricacies of their sigil.
I have Lord Azazel to thank for teaching me this, as it came to me in a flash, after meditating on His sigil.
Greatest of teachers, Hail Azazel!
Prerequisites:
I'd recommend this meditation for someone who already has a decent development of their astral senses. Amazing clairs are not needed, but one must already know how to distinguish between visualization created by one's own mind, and visualization that is being shown to you from external sources.
I like this meditation more during the night, but I don't see an issue with doing it in daytime.
I personally do it in a dark room with lit candles, as it helps me better visualizing.
Instructions:
1. Sit down, relax, and enter a light trance state. Your mind should be slower and focused. Have the sigil of choice handy.
2. With your eyes open, focus on the sigil. Understand that it correlates to its specific God. Do not try to think about your own perception of this God, at all. Simply keep in your mind that the sigil represents the God, a real being.
3. Imagine the sigil starting to light up in bright Sun light. Let this light grow brighter and brighter, get familiar with it. At this point, you are the one generating this visualization.
4. Vibrate the name of the God once, with the intention of respectfully asking the God to teach you about who they are.
5. Now, relax your mind even more. Try to keep a still mind, similar to void meditation, and keep focusing on the sigil. If you're relatively experienced, the light emanated by the sigil should take less and less effort to visualize, until it feels like it's happening by itself.
6. Now, just focus, mentally shut up, and mentally listen.
After a little time, parts of the sigil should change color, if your astral vision is developed enough. If not, you should still continue, as things are still happening behind the scenes when you do this.
7. Grab two sheets of paper, or just write on two different pages of a notebook.
On one side, write, as objectively as possible, everything that you felt. Physical sensations, your state of mind, colors you saw, how you experienced your visualization, etc.
On the other side, start making sense of what you felt. Let all thoughts roam and just write what comes to mind.
8. As days go by after this meditation, just go back to the papers and see what changes in your perception. You will see that some of your thoughts were wrong, maybe even delusional. And some other thoughts will make more sense, or you might write something new.
