In the movie Groundhog Day, the egotistic weatherman character Phil Connors goes to Punxsutawney Pennsylvania to report on Phil the groundhog’s prediction. He is unhappy about doing it, and is eager to get out of that town as soon as possible. However, the next morning he wakes up in his hotel room, and it’s Groundhog Day again! Everything is exactly as it was, except for his memory of it having already happened! This keeps happening over and over again. He quickly realizes that there are no consequences to what he does, so he starts enjoying all the “good” things in life. He eats junk food, has sex, plays chicken with his car vs. a train, and robs a bank to buy a bunch of fancy stuff. As “pleasant” as these things are, it’s the same every day, for who knows how many years worth of Groundhog Days. Eventually he gets bored, because nothing ever changes, so he tries to kill himself. He stabs, burns, crushes, falls, and electrocutes himself, and of course, every time he wakes up the next morning the same as always. This is the result of eternity and immortality for an average person, a non-Satanist: Total despair.
However, faced with this prospect, he learns the true purpose of immortality: To improve oneself! He starts learning new skills, like playing the piano, ice carving, dancing, and also uses his knowledge of the future to help people by knowing exactly when and how they would need help that day. This is eternity for a Satanist. Every day is better than the last! By advancing ourselves and our world, both spiritually and physically, we have the ability to do new and better activities every day. This is similar to a man at a gym. The first day, he can lift the 50lbs weight. After a month, he can lift the 100lbs weight. In contrast to materialistic pleasures, like eating cake, what do you have after a month of eating cake? Nothing. Each time you enjoy it, then it’s gone. There’s nothing wrong with material pleasures, but they cannot fill the void of eternity. Only advancement can make eternity fulfilling, eternally. This is the path of Satanism.
