Umun wrote a good reply right above this one.My 8 year old daughter spends a lot of time on YouTube and TikTok every day, filling her brain with junk videos and junk information. (She mainly watches Minecraft anime.) I have tried to stop this by reading books to her and playing non-digital games with her, but this way takes up a lot of my time. She likes to paint, create something, but can't beat YouTube. Do you have any good suggestions?
You might want to consider restricting her time with devices, and only allowing her to access them after she spends a certain amount of time on other activities. My parents rarely let me watch tv, and always encouraged me to find something to do, create games, or make art, and so on. Tv, tiktok, etc rot the brain and destroys normal function, such as the reward center (healthy dopamine, etc).
It's good that you spend time with her doing non-digital activities. It does take up a lot of time, but it will be a great reward for you.
