I write this post because I feel it can help a lot of people who are struggling with self control.

A long time ago I learned about this concept of urge surfing, which is basically about handling temptation, that can be about porn, sex, entertainment, food and all sorts of cheap dopamine activities. The funny thing is that on the same exact day I opened a book called 'Vigyan Bhairav Tantra' and I just scrolled randomly all the pages and I ended up in a page that talked exactly about this (so the second time I got to read about this concept that same day, since the first time I got the information somewhere else). I had absolutely no idea the book would contain such information! This was clearly a sing in my opinion, and it happened to me multiple times in my path, where I did the same thing and obtained very precise signs and answer on random pages of books on the exact same day without me even looking for it. Very strange 'luck' we could say.

Anyway the book claims that Shiva teaches about this technique. Shiva says that the best way to handle some stubborn temptation that you don't want to engage with is not to repress it and it's not even to ignore it. The best way is to recognize it. Accept that you are feeling this way, it's normal. Don't try to escape it, don't get anxious and don't try to actively resist it. You simply consider it, you allow yourself to feel it completely, you calm down, you breathe and you don't repress it. You simply observe and feel the temptation, without engaging with it. These are not just void words, actually do this! You will see that you will immediately feel much better.

When you are on a diet, or maybe you're trying to quit some addiction like alcohol or cigarettes, you really don't want to mess up your journey, so the idea of slipping up really makes you anxious, and when temptation arrives you really feel this pressure. And then when you try to repress it, it can actually get even worse, you get even more anxious, and you feel that you are in an active struggle. You feel very uncomfortable.

This meditation that Shiva teaches truly makes the difference, I can tell you from experience. Do not resist too much, do not ignore, allow yourself to feel the temptation, don't get tense and anxious. Breathe, calm down, it's extremely important. And then when you feel much better, suddenly drop the temptation. Say to yourself a clear affirmation, 'I will stay strong', with no hesitation. You might have to do this Meditation for some minutes, even 15/20 minutes for very stubborn temptations, but you can do it with your eyes open while you do something else. It truly helps.

Note: when it is said to feel the temptation, you shouldn't feed it by focusing on the addiction itself and the thought of slipping up, but more on how you are feeling, in terms of emotions. Also, do not think that you will not need your willpower anymore, you will still have to be strong and resist in a sense, this Meditation will just make things easier and more natural.

I will try this! thank you!

Hello, dear Brother, I wanted to try the technique myself before commenting on your post. First of all, after trying it, I wanted to confirm that it really works. It is truly a revelation to have discovered it, it is extremely effective as a method to overcome these temptations.

Secondly, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart and in the most sincere way because potentially the fact that you shared this technique saved me from a problem that was leading me to serious situations. So thank you so much, I repeat, you potentially saved my life.

I say this because it's been two days since I overcame a certain temptation that I had at all times of the day and it was destroying me. I haven't given in to this temptation for two whole days! Before reading your post, I was a victim of this behavioral excess at all hours. Your post really came to me at the most appropriate time, thank you!

These words truly make me happy! Very nice to hear. Despite the fact that I took a break from the forums, and I will have to continue doing so, to focus on my life (things are already getting better) I felt I had to share this piece of information sooner rather than later because it's a most valuable technique that as you said can be life-changing. With the correct knowledge all problems can be solved and even very difficult challenges can be made easier and more approachable. Even the smallest piece of knowledge can make a very big difference many times.

In fact, I completely agree with your point! I truly wish you the best with what you are facing, you deserve to be happy! :D

Thank you for posting this. I always enjoy reading what you write :)

Self-reflection is so incredibly important.

Thank you HPS Lydia! It's a great honor for me that you appreciate my posts. It also motivates me to keep going in general. Thank you again!

Thanks for the advice brother. I've been struggling for a while with some addictions that are getting in my way a lot, and I think this tip can help me. A few months ago, I started a short work with runes to increase my willpower and energy levels and although this has helped a lot, I still haven't managed to sublimate this addiction completely. Thank you brother, and may the gods bless you!

I'm surprised I didn't see this earlier. I'm glad I did now tho! Thank you! This really does help! :)

It's funny, the usual meditation of emptiness is presented in a disguised way and presented as something incredible. And there are quite a lot of such posts, and if I write an opening of the disguise under each one, then I will be hated even more on the forum. At the same time, people who do not realize that they write the same things with different names receive all the merit and respect.

The technique I posted has quite literally nothing to do with Void Meditation, but whatever. And as I said, this is not even a Meditation I invented, but one that I got from two different sources. I just explained it further and added my experience and opinon on it. When I write posts here it's for the sole purpose of helping people and making this group as strong as possible, validation from others is truly not the goal at all. Sure, if members appreciate them it's nice, but what I truly want is that our people evolve as much as possible so that our common goals are achieved.

As far as you 'being hated even more on the forum', I don't know you, this is the first time I even read a post from you here, but you should stop with this nonsense victim mentality of 'everybody in the world hates me and is against me for no reason whatsoever'. If you had such a negative feedback in the forums, I suggest that you do some introspection and find the true reason why.
