I've been very drawn-to and interested-by goats more than ever lately and it's brought me to wondering, what are the meanings and representations of this animal in Satanism, apart from being a symbol for the creator itself? The head of the goat (baphomet) is a symbol that forms a pentagram, but that's about all I know.

Goats are astounding, scaling mountains at thousands of feet solely to obtain salt from mineral deposits. I also read that studies and reports have found that goats will at times drink human urine found on trails. This is all because their vegetation-based diet is severely lacking in it.

What's most amazing to me is - how do they know salt is up there? There is no answer to that question in scientific terms yet and it just goes to show how gifted these animals are. They are also an integral part of the world's ecosystem. Approximately 96% of these animals are meat goats and are found in developing countries, largely Asia and Africa. The African goat population represents around 40.9% of the world’s goat population.

Goats have been with humanity for around 10,000 years and they continue to provide for us even today. We are very fortunate to have this sacred and majestic animal as a symbol for our creator.

extreme adaptability, i think is the main characteristic.
and the idea of prevailing in any case, living, or surviving.

by natural intuition, which is of the utmost importance in spiritual development towards divinity, which in our case, following a god, or ourselves, meditation automatically leads to the highest and best appropriate path (with limitations, of course).

Recently, I learned that both male and female goats have horns. Made me think of how the Baphomet represents both male and female aspects.

Goats are also known for being bold and naturally resistant. Similar to having a strong, Satanic Soul,, never submitting to xtianity., who's people are equated to sheep (docile, followers).

And the whole thing you mentioned about them climbing mountains is awesome. I'm thinking of how that could even represent reaching enlightenment or transformation..
The goat, meaning the self or Sol, climbing impressive mountains peaks that most animals are not capable of reaching (Satanic discipline and achievement and victory) to get salt they need to live (the elixir of life secretion from pineal gland).

. . or perhaps I'm too imaginative :D Mountain climbing is a great activity in general. Many amazing views to be seen, countless waterfalls and caves to explore. Lots of mystery.. a great way to connect with nature and the Gods! I understand why goats enjoy mountains so much:)
