This is the first poem I have ever written.
Our boots, our heavy boots
shake the earth beneath us.
We gather,
all of us,
in one place.
But where are we going?
To witness a hero.

Silence now...
but keep your eyes open.
Do you hear it?
The trembling of the ground?

Is it the roar of floods
rushing from northern seas
and southern oceans?
Is the earth itself
trying to speak?

Just hush...
Listen,
and open your eyes again.
This is the sound of unity.
The thunder of hearts beating as one.

Then the skies joined in
the rebellious winds,
the sun,
the clouds
they all cried out together: "ERIKA!"

Red flags, one by one,
rose into the sky,
dancing,
waving,
bold and bright.
And now,
our red flags
stand beside the sun,
sharing the heavens.

And HE came
Yes, He came.
The Hero.

With shining eyes
and a gaze that warmed the soul,
he looked upon us.
Breathing in the golden light,
he stood
the Hero.

He raised his hand
toward the sky,
and once again
revealed his power
to the world.

And then
the people,
all the people,
raised their hands in answer,
like a sea of stars
reaching for their sun.

Watch.
Listen.
See what the Hero speaks,
and how the Heroes respond.

His blessed hand
guides them,
shaping new generations
of courage.

Look
this man is our Hero.
This man is the Hero of us all.

Tell me:
What hero was born today,
if not him?
Who else is worthy to lead,
if not he?

We march forward still,
shaking the earth with our steps,
raising our banners to the sky,
and singing:
"On the heath, there blooms a little flower
and it's called : Erika."

Happy birthday
to the true Leader
our great and gentle man.
ADOLF HITLER.
