I would like to ask about ancient Egypt. It is extremely common to hear that the pharaohs had many wives, and that this was normal. I don't think there was any pharaoh who had only one wife, and I’m not referring to their favorites, but to having just one wife until their death. Was this a lie? Many marriages were political, and the pharaohs didn’t even have contact with some of their wives, but what about the ones they did?
I've seen discussions here about monogamy and polygamy, and of course, everyone does what they want in life. However, polygamy is not widely accepted in a certain way. Different times, different customs?
