Even if the sign isn't a water sign, can planets here produce some "watery" tendencies?

But more importantly, can it indicate psychic giftedness with the 4th House which rules the subconscious?

Greetings, Brother / Sister!

Here are very interesting examples of the jobs planets can do in 4th house:

People with planets and/or stellium in 4th can make wonderful archaeologists or other investigator of Ancient cultures, as well as seeing things under the Earth. 4th is about your Ancestors and their culture, your Motherland, the past, the Ancient times and Ancient everything, old epoques, etc. This is also about hardcore patriotism, especially when Pluto. Pluto both direct and retro also can give very intensively felt source of power in the immemorial past of your Motherland or in the immemorial past of the Earth or the Solar System as well. A lot of wonderful professions are connected to this sphere and a lot of Satanic professions are - one might adore to learn Ancient Satanic practices from manuscripts and mythology. I think I read from HPS Maxine of the examples of prominent archaeologists with stellium in there.

I believe that planets in 4th can be very effectively professionally sublimated. And depending on the sign they are in, - yes, they might tell of hereditary spiritual ability. Again, Pluto either direct or retro can speak of powerful mage or mages among Ancestors, and talents among Ancestry at all. Any planets depending on the sign and degree can tell of talents either among Ancestors or passed to you by Ancestors, especially if conjunct with the South Node and strengthened by a lot of noviles and related. But again, to say anything specific we need to know the planet and the sign.

4th and the Moon topic are very emotions-related and bloodline-related. And emotions themselves are very Motherland / born culture related, most important emotion being patriotism, spiritual patriotism, feeling roots, especially with the outer planets. Though there are lower octave realizations where astrologers say this might on the opposite mean some problems in accepting your past, born house and roots - depending on the nature of the planet and sign, but mostly depending on the octave. Octave is how you manage to work with the planet and sublimate it. For example, Saturn or Saturn-like planet in other planetary system in 4th or 4th-related might be sublimated by a Godly Being into building Pandemonium (Motherland, Capital), while in mortal chart it might work out in mediocrity way that is mostly evidenced everywhere. Good examples of the lower octave are those written about Moon-Uranus and Moon-Pluto aspects in ToZ Astrology section, or hereditary diseases at all if bad degree.

I believe our religion helps with heightening the octave so everything might be sublimated into highest and most wonderful genial masterpieces as in Godly example above.

As for the question in regards to whether houses might somehow replace the specific signs in action, more no then yes. Houses are more about spheres of life themselves and less about how you manage these spheres. Houses are of where in which spheres your karma might invite you to trod, while planetary signs are more of what exactly karma you might find if you trod these spheres. Extreme emotionalism & intensity is given by water signs not water houses. Water houses give the work around in specific sphere, for example prominent 8th and 12th might definitely give spiritual/afterlife sphere interests and abilities, invite you to do karma in these spheres, yet the planet might likely behave in accordance to the sign it is in and the influence of the other planets it stands in aspects with.
