I think this social medial makes people stupid and only delivers horrible and shallow content when you actually look at it...I'm not going to say I've never used it, of course I have... and I learned a lot of cool stuff there, some cake recipes and I've also found band communities that I like...but I feel really bad when I use it and I get addicted, what to do? not use it or what? even when you try to escape stupid content, they are always there.

Yes, there are indeed scientific studies about it. Tiktok works with addiction on the level of any drug.

what to do? not use it or what?
Those who think these endurance contests of who scrolled the most silly videos are a useful investment of time should realize how many truly useful things can be done in even an hour or half an hour a day...

when you try to escape stupid content, they are always there.

Let's say that TikTok was not exactly created to promote smart content. Instead of scrolling through stupid stuff there, you can scroll through JoS Library pdfs then if you feel like scrolling through smart stuff.

Let's also say that you don't need to keep Tiktok on to find out these things.... just do a search in a cookbook or Google, etc. There is no need to scroll through two hours hoping to get lucky.

I've deleted that stuff many years ago. Sometimes, when I go to YouTube to watch something useful, Shorts come up and attract my attention. Anyway, I use an app for screen time control; I can set limits on every app, and it helps a lot.

Also, the 'smart' content on TikTok is actually not smart. You can't learn anything if it is divided into a lot of short videos. Structure and systematization are very important in learning. And yes, you will forget what you have watched.

The "creators" of this BS knew exactly what they were doing when they invented it. Exactly for this purpose.

If an additional 10 million mudslimes will start invading your country tomorrow, will stupid people complain? Will stupid people fight back?

No because most of them will be glued to TikTok...

Is the Earth flat? Apparently yes because TikTok says so... 😒

In other words: it's easier to control stupid people.

In my opinion it's not social in of itself that makes people stupid, more-so what people do with it - and what people are programmed to do with it and in this case, be useless shits uploading degenerate nonsense all for clout. I've learned many good things from social media, and in cases where things were wrong - it gave me the opportunity right those wrongs. It was the same trend with Youtube - it became useful and there's lots of useful content, but there's also a lot of useless garbage, and yes, sadly the majority turn Youtube into some kind of Netflix 2.0, watch influencers go on some stupid mukbang or do some nonsensical shit, and the same thing will go with AI. It's the same pattern for most technologies.
