The idea of Astrology, that you can make human/animal shapes or some other object from a random collection of burning gas balls in the sky and this somehow determines human fates/personalities makes no sense to me at all. It sounds completely illogical. It's like throwing a bunch of bones on the floor and from looking at random patterns, you can work out the future or something, which is what certain divinators did in the past. It reminds me of pareidolia, where people see patterns in what are essentially just random arrangments and then try to associate them with fate. It feels very irrational to me.

How/why did astrology/divination survive so long and people see it as true? What's the JOS's explanation for it since the JOS does a good job of demystifying how spirituality works in a scientific fashion.

Astrology

You have a soul and if you feel spiritual you will notice it over time. Your soul is made of energy and, if well managed and programmed, can alter the course of events in your life (for this purpose we speak of magic). This is exactly what happens on a large scale with the planets that have specific energy. It is more complex than that because you also need to consider that the same chakras of your soul are connected to the various planets and directly influenced by them, but what I have told you can give you a simplified idea.

constellations are extremely important not only in astrology, but astronomy and some branches of physics too, so trivialising their mere existence is a bit silly. they are necessary.

the entire universe is made of energy. energy tends to react to other types of energy, and the planets, being massive accumulations of energy, can easily influence something like a human soul. which is why as you advance, and become more powerful yourself, you can drastically weaken their influences.

because it works. there's no easier or simpler answer. those that didn't work, like "throwing bones and looking at patterns" didn't stick around.

read through JoS Astro to learn about astrology more, but also through many articles regarding divination on the main JoS site

The planet's in our solar system emit energy which interact's with the Earth, and thus, has subsequent effect's on all of the stimuli present on Earth based on their geographical location in relation to the position of various fixed star's and planet's and how those energies also interact with each other.

Time is non-linear, and so, it's possible to read a future potential as it already "exist's" so to speak because all event's past, present, and future are recorded by the universe/akasha in the form of energy, which divination aim's to interpret (e.g., Tarot).

Every physical object can be given an archetypal characteristic through the intuition that comes from "immediate reason.
Based on its appearance, its state of being, and its own existence.

You're right, it's not rational.
When people try to explain astrology, they don't and can't speak scientifically.
Because the theory of astrology exists only in spiritual circles.
So it's something much more irrational and metaphysical than physical.

The energy of the material world is different from the spiritual energy you give to something.

In the end, what matters here is your choice to believe or not to believe.
It's literally a choice, because everyone has evidence and explanations for literally everything.
What really matters is what you think is cool to believe or not believe.

I hope you understand what I'm saying here.

There are things that can't be explained and don't need to be explained if there is no material to prove it.
What matters is your choice to have faith or not.
To accept explanations and connections or not.

To give knowledge a chance or not.

In fact, there is no rationality.
Rationality is just a lie you like to tell yourself to make sense of a belief about a phenomenon that exists just for the sake of existing.

Yes, it's because you are using your left brain to interpret what is a clearly right-brained discipline. Astrology and all forms of divination are a right-brained intuitive thing, and if you just practice them instead of using your left brain to explain them you will see that you can get accurate predictions.

However there is a way to explain it. The brain has something called the "Reticular Activation System" that causes you to notice more things that are in your mind. For example, have you ever had a day where you noticed only blue cars on the street? Wherever you looked, you just noticed blue cars. Or certain numbers, like 666. That's the Reticular Activation System at work. That same system makes you notice patterns in random things, like dragons in clouds.

Now, when you ask a question and you are looking for an answer, the superconscious part of you sends a signal to your subconscious and it activates your Reticular Activation System to notice or create patterns in what you are looking at that are related to your reply. For example, you see signs or coincidences like you randomly overhear strangers mentioning a random name when you asked "who did this to me?". Also, the movement that you make (like the bones that you throw on the floor) or the cards that you draw are caused by the subconscious, so the entire thing is subconsciously done. That's how basic divination works.

The zodiac signs were created by people perceiving the sky intuitively, that's why they personified different areas and noticed intuitively different qualities that they have. That's why they all came to the same signs around the world. There is Vedic and European astrology, yet they both agree at the descriptions of the zodiac signs.
