Youtube is removing (public) dislikes.

Apparently groups of viewers, are targetting a video's dislike button to drive up the count, turning it into something like uh- uh a game with a visible scoreboard. And it's usually just because they don't like the creator, or what they stand for.
That's a big problem when half of Youtube's mission is to give everyone a voice.
So, earlier in 2021, Youtube experimented with making the public dislike count private, to see if it would help reduce these coordinated, dislike attacks across the platform.
And after analysis they did see a reduction. So, the update from Youtube is that the dislike button is staying, but the dislike counts will now be private. You can still dislike videos and that action will be used to tune your own recommendations, but you won't be able to see the dislike count. Only the creator can find it on the backend, if they want.

There is already an option to remove the ability to like/dislike videos. That's how it is on JoSMinistries on Youtube for example, where public likes/dislikes is invisible. Without dislikes there is not much point in having likes.

They obviously just want to steer and shape peoples opinions as usual, like with the ongoing cencorship.
I had my previous Youtube channel removed long ago with 400+ subscribers. Now I'm using a old spare channel without "controversial" videos.

Since my phone that is dedicated to be used only to keep photos and my favorite music playlist finally gave way, I begrudgingly went to (((YouTube))) for entertainment and music. On the occasion where I watch my favorite YouTubers there, I watched PewDiePie.


He made a video concerning this and gave good examples, especially as to why we need the dislike button in timestamp 5:05
