Yoga plateau or bad asana posture?

There are some if not most of my asanas that I'm doing that feel like I am not getting a good stretch in anymore.

It's either if I push hard enough that if I up one more notch I'll snap something but the notch before that is where I'm not feeling that "stretchy" feeling.

Is this how it's supposed to be where I'm just at a point where I need my body to get used to that position until it's ready to stretch more, is it a plateau or am I doing the posture wrong?

This goes for stretches like the straddle, cobra, wheelbarrow and some arm stretches. I'm not even doing a whole split on the straddle stretch for instance but I'm not really feeling the stretch if I just go at it normal and I feel like if I try more hard I could injure myself.

Any advice?

Look for multiple resources online on how to perform asanas. Seek professional consultation from experienced yoga instructors.

Guidelines for personal practice:

- Hold longer, going deeper gradually
- Seek more difficult variations of current asanas you are doing
- Seek new asanas

These routines help my scoliosis (arthritis of lower spine). Try holding for longer intervals:

I meant hold asanas longer. Lydia is also a huge source on this. Look at her posts and click on the links in her signature.

Good replies. Thank you, gentlemen.

I've tried sharing this book here before and not many people were interested which is a shame and I'm not gonna try too hard to convince anyone to read it but it will take all of your Asanas to another level, if you do

People are probably not interested because the topic is yoga. The link you've given is about pain cure? Are you sure that is the right url address??

Tell us what the book is about.

You guys are right I forgot to take my time and explain
Before I had taken screenshots of multiple stretches from the book with the complete instruction, but whatever.

It's a book with two categories of stretches:
Spinal decompression and myofascial.

The former creates spinal disc separation, letting fluid in and making the space permanent.

Myofascial stretches involve specific alignment combined with muscle flexion.
It's based on the awareness that your fascia envelopes every organ and individual muscle fiber from head to toe.

That's what his hip flexor stretch looks like. Squeeze your glute to activate the stretch and shift forward to deepen it.

There's the book if anyone wants to read it before they buy.

Looks like one needs an account to read it but it’s a free account.

Seems interesting so I might check it out as well.
