I learned this in sociology in collage and I found it vary interesting.
Our knowledge towards sexuality has changed vary much thanks to discoveries in the human body, for example; 50% of the entire population has a sexual related deformity regardless of race or gender. These deformities can be mere abnormal hormone levels (ex: tom-boyish), homosexuality/bisexuality, to deformed sexual organs like hermaphrodites/ he-she's and some may have believed that they were 100% one gender (one example was a woman who was married and bore children) just to have a genetic test tell them that they are 100% the opposite gender (her genetic test said that she was a full man).
Scientifically speaking sexuality is not a cut and dry thing as we thought it was, your not just male or female, your chances of being both are no greater then a flip of a coin. Ever heard of the saying " I'm not gay, I'm Greek!"? this bares truth, once upon some time ago sex was sex was sex and anything with two legs qualifies because there was no contraceptive back then so the only choice you had was your same gender. It was understood to be pleasurable, a release, and that was that.
This should be comforting, as it is not only one but half the population of the planet, sex is not a big deal anymore but thanks to our fellow xians (and all religions that apply) to which our societal norms were founded by, up until fairly recently, our views of gender and sex in general are vary much warped against what science is telling us now.
Our society has one vary clear rule, "follow the crowed". this rule dictates everything about how we live, what we eat, ware, and do. Since the bible has been running the shots, people blindly believed it verses what occurs naturally and since the bible said that there are only 2 genders then people will do anything to conform to the "dictated normality" cause "god said so" (note to sarcasm). The reality is that many studies show that people who could couldn't care less about what you do behind-closed-doors tend to be heterosexual, the stimulus was to have them watch homosexual pornography and see if they got aroused, these people didn't become aroused but People who are violent about homosexuality to the point that they protest about it are usually people who would consider homosexuality them selves, for this study they invited inmates who were accused for crimes against homosexuals, these people did become aroused by the stimuli (and if you where wondering how many of them failed the test
100% ). The reason why these people are homophobes is because of there lack of confident in there own sexuality, these people are so concerned about following social norms that they see these people and what they represent as a threat to them at some social level, these people could not live with "the humiliation" of being different or losing there status in there hierarchy (dominate male in most case's ) most of which is in there own heads. These people will kill in order to protect there sexual identity! Because the bible told them!
But times are changing as the secrets of the human body are reviled. people are getting sick and tired by the rules and regulation that is blasted upon them on a daily bases telling them how to live there lives, and this "homophobia" will some be abolished. So next time some one rants on you because "your evil" just laugh cause your more confident in what you are then they are about them selves.
Of course, his is all my thoughts on the matter

Ok for 3rd time today I got called a abomination of nature only out for attention and I asked them why they thought that and they said " it's in the bible". WTF why can I never get a straight answer out of them? Why are things followed by bible verses?!
But anyway has a Christian ever given a reason besides that it's in the bible why they hate homosexuals?
