Hello! I have very weak hair and it's very difficult for me to grow it. It breaks easily and becomes damaged with split ends. It keeps falling out, too. I'm female and I have long curly hair. How can I strengthen it naturally?

Hi, so the pseudo vitamin B called inositol strengthens hair and promotes its growth. Also, massage the area you want to stimulate hair growth so blood gets in there. DMSO works on the scalp, but make sure not to leave it on until it starts to really burn. It absorbs immediately, so just like a minute is good, I'd say. Those two products in tandem will work. Don't start it on a VoC moon just incase.

Can you get collagen pills? Those make the hair a lot stronger.

Poor hair quality and hair that easily falls out is due to poor blood quality.

Has your hair ever fallen out in clumps overnight or is it just a steady stream of finding hair around the house?

Do you color your hair or use heat on it? Internal health does make hair stronger or in poor health weaker.

Curly hair is more prone to this, for sure, on top of either having African hair or really fine blonde hair.

If the cause is heat, poor shampoo and conditioner quality, and coloring trust me... it’s worth the money to go to a beauty supply house and get at least some Schwarzkopf. Deep conditioning regularly. Olaplex is top of the line and cutting edge, and literally rebuilds hair. This is more expensive, you can get a treatment at a salon for 30-60$ and then getting olaplex #3 and leave it on overnight... your hair will be like new. The shampoo and conditioner IMO is worthless and my least favorite. The brand “Moroccan Oil” argan oil is the best oil treatment and heat protectant for hair that there is, and other brands are just knock offs and generally awful. This makes an extreme difference with regular use. It’s increasingly more difficult to find that, but using any oil and leave in conditioner is going to benefit you. This has to be done regularly and every single time you get out of the shower and style your hair. Be sure to lay off of blow drying and styling/coloring as much as possible. I’ve found that all of these things combined are necessary to make any real difference. Drug store hair products are by far the worse and contribute to a lot of hair problems. Make sure you’re only using a dime sized amount of shampoo. A foam-free shampoo is fantastic but can make hair look more oily. I’ve used cleansing conditioners temporarily.

Also, be sure to switch off shampoo brands every time you run out. Different components build up on the hair and also cause damage. Another thing, if you have hard water, this alone can damage even virgin hair. If have black ancestry in any way, this advice would have to be tailored. I’m fair skinned and fair haired, my hair is blonde.

I’ve been able to achieve the longest thickest blonde hair of anyone I know, and it’s taken a lot of slow habit changes over time. Don’t ever tear through your hair when you brush it, brush slowly. Start at the ends and work your way up. Keep your hair in a braid versus a ponytail. Internal health is also critical, but not always the solution and the results will be long term. This won’t do anything to save your hair in the mean time.

Trim regularly. For faster growth, massage the head 3 minutes a day 3x a day. This can make a person with premature balding regrow a head of hair. This is also the only way to make hair truly grow FASTER, on top of having proper circulation/working out and hormonal health.

Dear Centralforce,
I saw in many post that you are an expert on this matter and I hope you could help me with my specific case.

I am balding since 4 years now and I have a problem of thin hair aswell. Reading other posts I came to the conclusion that I am having kidney yin deficiency, I came to that conclusion because I have often pain on the lower part of my back and sometimes I feel a lot of heat on the lower part of my body when I sleep.

Now it’s almost 4 months that I am taking Shou Wu Pian, and I think that I am having some small results, but I am not really sure, all seems to be really slow.

Even my hairs are growing really slow and most of them are really fragile. My questions are:

Am I taking the wrong herb mixture? Do you thing that it’s correct that I am having kidney yin deficiencies?

Which other symptoms should I look for?

If I do have kidney deficiencies, and probably poor blood quality, are the mixture of the herbs for those 2 problems compatible? Can I take both mixtures?

Do you recommend a working on the sacral chakra as the sacral chakra rules the kidneys? (For what I know)

Thanks for the help and the information you always share

Balding, heat symptoms, pain in lower back, sounds like kidneys. Frail hair sounds more like liver blood deficiency. A weakened kidney yin will eventually result in weakened yang and so forth. A weakened kidney will also result in a weakened liver, which is the organ the kidneys help generate.

The Shou Wu Pian addresses both liver blood and kidney issues, so it is good to take. Liver and kidney issues are commonly seen together for the above reason, so it is fine to mix these, although individual differences mostly impact what exactly one should take. With any yin-building herbs, just be mindful of cooling or dampness accumulation. Keep your processed sugar intake low and have routine exercise and this is not a problem.

Think of your healing as like a scale, you have to do enough things correctly to tip the scale in your favor. An herbal product is just one thing to tip the scale. The lifestyle choices are the bigger factors at play.

For example:

-Make sure you cut out caffeine for the time being to protect kidney yang.

-Eat enough meat to rebuild the yin of the body. Google for a list of kidney foods to eat. Red items will rebuild the liver blood. Eat regularly and warm meals only. If you are experiencing such symptoms that you describe, you may be a vata dosha person. Google for vata dosha balancing and see if that applies to you, then implement it.

-Do yoga. Hatha yoga is great for the yin. Yang-style yoga, such as the kundalini yoga or Tibetan 5 Rites is good for the yang of the body.

-Do qigong. I think the best application of qigong would be the qigong specific to certain organ groups (elements). In your case, google "mimi duo-keemer qigong for water" and for earth. She has some videos that are 1 exercise each and are 2 minutes long. Repeat this like 10 or 20x daily, for example. This will add energy back into the afflicted organs.

-Go to bed before 11pm. This alone makes for a big deal, as the night time is the best recovery period for the body. The liver cleans and rebuilds blood during 1-3pm for example.

-For men, be mindful of their masturbation. Ejaculation uses up kidney jing, which requires kidney yang to produce. Using porn can turn your sexual activity into addictive overdrive, quickly exhausting kidney jing. First step, remove porn. Next step (since you have kidney symptoms), shoot for something like 3-4 day intervals between sexual activity. I think this is long enough to see positive growth without being too long for most people.

-Besides the sacral chakra, I think the base chakra is involved a lot to since it controls the adrenals, which are part of the kidney organ system in TCM. Western medicine-viewed adrenal deficiency is what will cause hair loss, for example.

Like CentralForce mentioned, this is a blood issue. The blood is not properly nourishing the hair. This is mainly from the liver, but it can originate from kidney or stomach/spleen issues as well. If you have symptoms related to them, you would want to focus there as well.

I wrote a reply to StormSS (in this thread), and some of it will apply to you as well. A weakened liver can strain the kidneys as well, so be mindful of the influence of lifestyle choices that influence the health of the kidneys too.

As far as building blood, women lose blood during menstruation, so this can become a problem for them. Eat more meats and red foods, such as red meats, beets, liver itself. Meat in general will help, but red items are best for blood. Very green items can help as well, due to the high chlorophyll content, however red meat is best. Eat meat in portions about 3-5oz at a time to not overwhelm the stomach.

Dear Blitzkreig

Thank you very much for all the information you shared, I will immediately begin to apply all of them.

The last days I already tried the Qigong for the water element you hinted to me, and the feeling is good.

Thanks again, I will come back to this thread for a feedback in a couple of months

Taking He Shou Wu on its own is not sufficient to build yin or blood in the body.

This takes a synergistic effect from other herbs also.

Please try adding Si Wu Wan to the He Shou Wu for one month and then report back any symptom changes.

Glad to help and good luck! Also take a peek at what CentralForce said, with additional herbal suggestions.

I also made a typo, I meant to say 1-3am for the liver.
