Hey guys, I came a cross an article that I thought was worth sharing.
I know very little about neuroscience yet this research hits home one very important point that HPHC has stated numerous times - we become smarter/more aware the more we meditate.
This study found that the monks' gamma waves had a very high amplitude. In addition (according to a video by Thoughty2) researchers found that when they enlarged these waveforms, many high-frequency intervals made up the larger waveform (i.e like a waveform inside a waveform). Not to mention, these brainwaves acted in synchronicity with each other, which is a marker for high brain functionality and intelligence.
Quote: "While meditating, the monks produced gamma waves that were extremely high in amplitude and had long-range gamma synchrony—the waves from disparate brain regions were in near lockstep, like numerous jump ropes turning precisely together. The synchrony was sustained for remarkably long periods, too."
I'm hopeful that this research makes it to the mainstream as I believe this information is far more important than the billions being spent on cannabis and psychedelics research in psychotherapy. The brain is a muscle and if you don't use it you lose it. I believe forcing an altered-mind state is a lot like playing roulette as our emotions are the primary force that shapes our experience.
Without a trained mind and emotions one can experience some terrifying stuff. I've also heard of many people becoming dependant on these drugs (namely LSD) to "reset" their brain. These people more often than not end up in states of extreme highs and lows and thus a cycle is born.
For this reason it's so important that we all maintain a healthy emotional state. Stay calm, happy and focused everybody.
Hail Satan!!!
