When we think about the occurrence, nature and effects of any addiction (here we could say that there are more “safe” and “positive” addictions, but I don't think there is an absolute positive one, given the basic meaning of the term), it should give us some kind of disgust. The starting point for breaking an addiction should be this disgust.
In your case, the dopamine created by this addiction has to be crushed and devalued under the stress of the negative situations that develop after a while. This is the second point you have to rely on to break the addiction.
Gradually redirect yourself to more useful actions, unleash your creative power instead of wasting your energy on completely meaningless things, and aim to get out of the passive state you are in.
You have to prepare your mind to break the addiction, then, as soon as you come to an understanding that you are able to successfully practice the spiritual solutions to be applied, you have to put them into practice.
Meditations and freeing the soul definitely work, but you have to let them work and heal you.
