The Nordic Resistance Movement is set to take legal action against the Swedish Security Police (SÄPO) after the organisation submitted unfounded reports to social services regarding children and parents connected to the Resistance Movement. Here Robert Eklund comments on SÄPO’s new weapon against political opposition.
ON 6 September Nordfront published an investigation into the Swedish Security Police (SÄPO), which has reported several families with connections to the Nordic Resistance Movement to social services in recent months. SÄPO’s press secretary Gabriel Wernstedt was interviewed for the article and would neither confirm nor deny that the reports were part of a targeted campaign against the Resistance Movement.
Nordfront’s investigation demonstrated that SÄPO had no proof that children of the families reported were being mistreated in any of the cases. Rather, possible engagement in the Resistance Movement was exclusively given as the basis for the reports. Despite this, Wernstedt stands by his position that SÄPO are completely uninterested in the type of political engagement people have.

Nordic Resistance Movement National Council member Robert Eklund responds:
THE primary task of the Swedish Security Police (SÄPO) is to defend Swedish “democracy” and protect the country against terrorist attacks. It’s also their mission to counteract what the system refers to as “violent milieus”, which in Orwellian newspeak means the country’s political opposition.
Using a nation’s security service as a tool to oppress political opposition is something politicians and journalists usually strongly condemn – at least when it’s happening in countries that are objectionable to the current power structure. We can see the most recent example of this almost daily via sob stories about the “demonstrations” in Belarus in practically every media publication. Sadly the Swedish journalists and political class are completely blind when it comes to the same things happening in Sweden.
For many years now, SÄPO has been used as a tool to prevent growth in the Nordic Resistance Movement via the harassment of members and potential members in the organisation. It’s important to remember here that the Resistance Movement is a registered political party, which engages in completely legal activities. SÄPO’s latest “weapon” in the fight against this opposition is to make reports to social services regarding members’ children.
It can be stated with almost complete certainty that SÄPO would not be able to act in the same way against other designated groups within these so-called violent milieus. If they were to report children from the Islamic community, there would be a glut of MPs, editorial writers, journalists and other media pundits ready to rush to these oppressed minorities’ rescue. Similarly, all sorts of loudmouths in the establishment would scream themselves hoarse at the security service if they used the same methods against parents in the extreme-left movement.
Together with Simon Holmqvist, I investigated a series of these cases on Nordfront [Swedish].
The reports we examined fall into the following categories:
Parents who are organised in the Nordic Resistance Movement
Youths under 18 years old who are organised in the Nordic Resistance Movement
Children/youths who have another connection to members of the Nordic Resistance Movement.
In all of the examined cases, SÄPO did not refer to anything that would suggest that the children in question were being mistreated in any way – apart from their connection to the Nordic Resistance Movement. In response to direct questions from Nordfront’s journalist, SÄPO’s spokesperson did not deny that the reports were only made on the basis of membership of the Nordic Resistance Movement.
In this context it’s also important to mention that none of the reports we have examined has led to more than a conversation with social services before being closed down without proceedings. It can therefore be established that all reports have been 100% unjustified.
It’s a fact that the Swedish government uses the country’s security service to oppress political opposition. They invent various labels for “objectionable” political viewpoints in order to skirt constitutional laws that forbid authorities, including SÄPO, from mapping and registering people based solely on their political affiliation. The fact that this harassment has now been taken to a completely new level is something we in the Nordic Resistance Movement can never accept.
We are therefore going to take legal action against the Swedish state and the Security Police. At the time of writing, I can announce that we are in contact with lawyers and are preparing the most appropriate and powerful points of attack against the political police in the Swedish security service.
Article 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights – Prohibition of discrimination, states:
The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in [the] Convention shall be secured without discrimination on any ground such as sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status.
