This is a short tutorial of how to use the quote function properly. Quoting the whole original post, or quoting a long reply can be frustrating for the ones who will need to scroll trough it again, and again.

If you want to reply to the whole post, you can delete the entire content from your quote.
If you are want to reply to a portion of a post, you can delete everything but that section of the post.

It has been explained before, on the forum guide, but it needs more attention.

I am here to announce a very beautiful change, which is the beginning of massive updates for the Joy of Satan website.

In the Joy of Satan, thanks to all those who support us, we constantly try to bring the best content for those who want to advance in the path of the Gods.

As part of the general progression of the Joy of Satan, the older website that we had, has been updated. More updates will follow with content and with a new dynamic layout that will make the site look sleek, modern, easier to use.

We are heading into the future, and websites looking better, more functional, quicker and more elegant is part of having a successful presence online.

We will only enrich the site; we will keep everything of it's original character, and improve it to give it all the power it needs to reach the potential the Gods have intended for their sacred religion.

That is part of our initiative to move on with promoting the Joy of Satan like never before. Having an aesthetically attractive layout without deviating from our core principles is very important for this goal to be achieved.

Let us know your opinions about the new page. I want to specifically thank JG ApolloAbove for his tremendous help and technical expertise for helping me manifest this change.

Following up, there will be announcements on new Guardians and other things. We are certainly headed out for December being a very exciting month.

There are bold plans in place for the Joy of Satan. We will fight to the highest extent to bring these into life, for the sake of the Gods and for the sake of humanity.

When you are replying to someone, it will send them a notification. However, if you quote xy, who quoted xyz, it wont send a notification to xyz, who is quoted inside the quote. In the above situation, Ramier won't get a notification, even if he is still quoted inside the quote.

When you are replying to someone, it will send them a notification. However, if you quote xy, who quoted xyz, it wont send a notification to xyz, who is quoted inside the quote. In the above situation, Ramier won't get a notification, even if he is still quoted inside the quote.

This is a short tutorial of how to use the quote function properly. Quoting the whole original post, or quoting a long reply can be frustrating for the ones who will need to scroll trough it again, and again.

If you want to reply to the whole post, you can delete the entire content from your quote.
If you are want to reply to a portion of a post, you can delete everything but that section of the post.

It has been explained before, on the forum guide, but it needs more attention.

Here is an example of what you should see when you click on the quote button: (without the dots inside the []s)



If you want to reply to the whole post delete the whole content between the top

and the bottom

Afodo worked hard to create a guide, and it's partly outdated within a few hours :lol: (For those who don't see the new forum layout, clear your cache.)

The instructions for where to post is very important. Someone once quoted me but messed up the quotes so their post looked like mine (it was like they quoted a post of mine, but it was entirely their own), and made me look drunk and barely literate as the writing was far different from my own. So if other readers did not scroll up to see what was actually my post, they would think strangely of me.

And deleting everything unnecessary is also a good idea so people can see precisely what is relevant to the reply.

We are working constantly here daily, I found the solution and JG ApolloAbove implemented it very quickly. We are solving everything as fast as possible. Doing my best to cut from other places to be able to do everything that is needed. So far, it seems to be working.

I basically organize these things, I go over the decisions and plans, and he does the programming implementations which are miracles. So far, we have been blasting through many obstacles.

I have all the plans here and ready, the situation is that willingness and many programmers and community work is required. Everything's there however.

I'd better leave it unsaid on how much work others have done as well, but we are now focusing on the platforms specifically, what everyone uses, how to improve this and so on.

Afodo's post was very necessary as this highlighted the absolute necessity of this. The moderators are also very happy now and I believe everyone else as well.

We will look into more implementations. I also do my best to work closer for all of these developments and to be working on them daily, as we want the platform and experience in JoS to become better and better, for plans that are coming in the future.

We are always in need of more programmers. Programmer for JoS is literally like temple builder in Ancient Egypt, or like a Hieroglyphics expert.

Even if the new quotation solution has been implemented very quickly after Afodo posted it, this is still a very good guide to follow.

I recommend all forum members to read this, as it is still better to follow these guidelines than to quote whole posts, even with the new system, because highlighting the specific parts of the post by the person you are quoting, i.e. the most relevant parts, helps the other person see quickly at a glance as well what you are replying to, instead of having to re-read their entire post again.

And writing your reply below the quote is also very important, so it does not get buried between other peoples quotes.

The post preview should help there too.

I'd like to add a little trick I discovered that works well for me (just for people who may come across this thread).

After clicking 'reply' try holding 'shift' and the 'up' arrow key until all the text is highlighted, then (while holding shift) press the 'right' arrow key once and hit backspace or the 'del' key (if you don't this deletes the quote entirely).

You will be left with a single letter. I usually just hit backspace and type elipses '...' followed by the enter key. This method also works for the multiquote function, although here (for some reason) you can highlight and delete all of the text without removing the quote entirely.

It seems the new forums no longer require the

...

parts. The hard work that has been done is truly astounding!
