Just a quick reminder to everyone interested in beauty and/or skin health.   Silicones, most commonly labelled as dimethicone but also anything ending in “cone”, are used in lotions, shampoo, conditioner, cosmetics, and other beauty products. These give immediate benefits such as smoother skin and hair, but the long term use is very detrimental.   Silicones are an artificial coating that create a barrier, a shield similar to a rubber mask, on your skin and hair. This provides immediate smoothing, but does not allow for the penetration of any natural remedies such as coconut oil. Silicones also do not wash out, they wear out in time though, or by the use of vinegar.   So if your products such as shampoo and body wash contain silicones, then any coconut oil or anything will not be able to penetrate into your skin, for long-term results.   Ever wonder why many women spend so much money and effort into obtaining beautiful hair and skin, but their hair is dry and damaged and skin looks old and dull (dimethicone prevents the natural shedding of skin), and then men who hardly use anything have significantly better skin? This is the reason. Most men use common soap that does not contain silicones.   So, get yourselves some dimethicone-free shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and so on. Get in the shower and gently scrub yourself with vinegar (preferably apple cider vinegar) diluted one part vinegar to one part water (or one part white vinegar to 10 parts water). You can rinse this in your hair as well, and it also helps to safely remove pollution buildup and restores the natural PH balance of your hair and skin.   And then you can enjoy the short-term and long-term benefits of natural products, such as coconut oil.     Resources:   http://www.drfranklipman.com/the-truth- ... methicone/   http://www.annmariegianni.com/ingredien ... ates-acne/   (among many other sources online)

Thanks for the info :) I learn so much from you all. XD

I just checked this night cream and yep it has that silicon stuff in there too.
Is there any risk for your eyes though with that stuff? I guess.. dry eyes, and hurt like maybe you've had them open for too long?

Taol, is that eye problem a long standing one?

Does it coincide with short periods or little flow of periods (I am assuming you are female).

Or is there any other burning pain anywhere, including heartburn etc.?

no no nothing like that I got some cream in my eyes accidentally the other day. Im good now. (and yes I am female)

Also when I checked the links I had to thought of that 'dove' (or maybe it was nivea) shower and it said that it'd make the skin soft or something.. well it did.. but due to it the oil your skin normally makes doesn't wash off. So I ended up having very oily feeling skin after a couple of days which I disliked so.. didn't really use it.
Could have contained a lot of those silicones though.

Dove brand is awful, there are so many testimonies online from people who have had major reactions to it. I have had allergic reactions to both their body wash and hair conditioner, and I am not prone to allergies of any kind otherwise.

Regarding silicones in eye cream, the eye area is very delicate and prone to wrinkles. Not being able to moisturizer this area properly will lead to getting wrinkles around the eyes earlier than normal.

Wow never thought to hear that. Dove.. why is it called Dove? Are we supposed to tie it with the story of doves as peace-bringers and the one story around Easter from that fake book that has been shoved down gentiles throat?

Yves Rocher.

Seems to have a couple of products without silicons. Although Im not sure about the pricing of things or the credibility as to how natural it is, one should still look up the labels. Herbal components are found in there too.

I am not sure about the Jewishness of the company nor do I know to what countries it ships but I guess if you're in Europe you could look it up.

A relatively cheap brand named "Urtekram" seems to be decent.

Much better than all conventional shampoo's and whatever, they also have fluoride free toothpaste which works, I have used it for almost a year and it is completely fine and works perfectly.

It's very affordable compared to other so called natural brands and they have soaps with very little intrusive ingredients that are very gentle on the skin and don't seem to wash of the skins natural oils very aggressively.

It's worth checking out. Where I live I find it sold in a regular store, both the toothpaste and shampoo for a very affordable price of approx 4 euro's each.

Their Aloe Vera shampoo has no silicones or any cones at all and also no other unnatural shit like the typical laureth sulfate in conventional shampoo.

I made some researches too. I also found out about other endings for silicones, being -xiloxane e -silaoil. It came out while looking for silicone-free products in my country. In any case I guess I'll just make some myself, because I don't trust other chemical ingredients like Sodium Coco-Sulfate, Lauryl Glucoside, PCA Glyceryl Oleate, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamatem, Sodium Hyaluronate, Diheptyl Succinate and such stuff.

you're completely right to mistrust them although those could be preservatives. If you make products yourself they tend to have a much shorter shelf life compared to when you buy them from somewhere..
