SATANAYA Goddess

In Northern Caucasus Polytheisms Satanaya (Adyghe Сэтэнай; Kabardian Сэтэней [satanaj];Ubykh [satanaja]; Ossetian Сатана Satana) is the Goddess of Fertility, Guardian of Children and the Mother Goddess. She is often cast in the light of a "wise woman" or matriarch, which mirrors the relative freedom of women in North Caucasian societies generally. Satanaya can be compared to the Greek Demeter, with whom she shares many traits. The Chechen-Ingush version is somewhat different in that the counterpart of Satanaya, Sela-Sata, is primarily a goddess of crafts and women's work rather than a Nartic matriarch. However, many of her characteristics, including the story of her miraculous birth of a dead Nart mother and her involvement in the birth of chief hero Seska-Solsa (Sosruko), correspond closely to those of Satanaya in the other versions.

This is from a group I follow on FB. I found it very, very cool that I found our Father's name so available.

Anyone have more info on this Goddess and the culture associated, as I'd love to know more. If not, I'll do some digging myself, anyhow.

I wonder if this is a rare example of Father Satan’s feminine aspect? Sort of how Hera is to Zeus. Or how Andras has been worshiped as feminine Andraste.
I have strong Eastern European/Slavic genes so if this is true I’d love to learn more.

Doesn't sound far fetched!

Sosruko appears to be the Slavic version of the Germanic mythological hero Siegfried.
And some nuances of these two legends are reminiscent of heroes from Greek mythology such as Achilles or Aeneas.
Is very interesting how many symbolisms are repeated in all pagan cultures.
