Yes, it sounds like it needs more power. This can be the result of our natal Mars operating in a weaker sign, and/or it can have restrictions applied to this, like a Saturn aspect. If you are new to astrology, then take this opportunity to read about your own Mars and its aspects. Don't tell anyone the specifics of your chart, though.
If you are newer, then you should focus on giving it more attention with cleaning and empowerment. Once you become competent in your beginner skills, then you can attempt a larger working, such as consistently applying Thurisaz to improve the Mars aspect of your soul. This will most certainly raise feelings of bravery, energy, and of course libido.
Self-esteem itself is more of a function of the Sun and solar energies. This is because the Sun focuses on the creation of value, whereas Mars focuses on the division of reality, explosion energy, confrontations, and bravery. The Sun is friendly, whereas Mars is generally not. This is shown by the structure of Thurisaz itself, which looks like a tool designed for cutting.
Although female sexuality can also be defined by the yin element in some aspects (see the Kenaz rune), the basic proponent of sexual arousal and power is that of Mars. As women as a whole can be seen as the "Venusian gender", it is also likely that they can be lacking in Martian energy, so balance is needed here.
Just keep in mind that a larger working will more strongly dig into karmic issues, so you may experience health symptoms, karma pertaining to men, confronting sexual hangups, and so on. While Mars may play an important role in its function, we would not say that the fire of Mars defines its elemental nature.
This serves as a caution to people who may directly apply fire-type energies right into their sacral chakra, which would likely be destabilizing and harmful. When I do the above workings, such as with Thurisaz, I focus on a broader vision of my soul and on the positive change which occurred, which prevents possible damage, like what can occur in this example (thinking we need to shove the energy somewhere it shouldn't go, nor needs to go for success).
