I have both Pluto and Mercury conjunct over the MC.
What does this mean further than the JoS interpretation? "This is one of the best aspects for mages/sorcerers."

The description of Jos is sufficient to understand how to intuit their function.

You have to merge the two planets to understand it. In addition to what jos said, this can lead to being skilled manipulators, having a lot of power regarding speech/communication, strong charisma. Propensity to speak or address, make friends, know people in positions of power, or who have power in some way, such as rich people, more influential people in one's city etc....

In some cases there is a lot of tendency to obsess very easily, because Pluto tends to dig deep and not be superficial.

Madonna, Miley Cyrus, in their Tn have this aspect, and in their way of communicating it is known their attitude(Mercury) "extreme"(Pluto). Many times censored.

The nuances this aspect has are many, these also depend on everything else in the picture.

This aspect is very good for concentration and the way of communicating ideas, thoughts, and emotions can seem extremely intense to others. Due to these planets conjunct your MC, there can be much intense focus and concentration on the job. This might have an influence in some cases to make one overly interested in the performance or lives of their coworkers, as well as intense investment in projects. You may even desire to reach some form of influence or power in your work field as pluto also rules power along with the sun. You may be the person at work who always asks deep but even uncomfortable questions. There may be a desire for investigating everything about the workplace and said authority figures who run the company. Powerful friends may also be made in the workplace that can be of benefit to you (or even cause extreme loss)

It can mean intense power struggles between siblings or neighbors sometimes. Shady things can happen in the local neighborhood, getting lost is a possibility, problems with vehicles, etc. Power struggles in general in youth.

The mind can be very heavily inclined to fixating on things and obsession. A fixation on sex, money and power are all common with this placement. Know-how in obtaining wealth, especially in the 10th.

Sometimes you may spook or scare people with your mannerisms or presence which may be powerful.

With this aspect on the MC a lot of this stuff is going to be tied to your status, duty and 'name' in life, the make or break factor professionally or spiritually, and so on. It can also mean struggles of siblings provoked by the father or parents (10th House), intense or brutal communication getting one into favor or trouble with the government (10th House), plus many other possibilities. As HPS Maxine said on the groups, the meanings have to be blended.

On a higher spiritual level, this is also tied to necromancy and Astral Projection as Hermes [Thoth], Anubis and other Gods who guided the souls of the dead can be seen to 'represent' this placement.
