I was always interested in both psychology and psychiatry, how our minds work exactly, and why. For me, both the human mind and body are fascinating things and topics to talk about, and it never fails to amaze me one way or another. Though, there is one thing that still not clear to me about some behaviors, particularly ones that I myself don't posess but others around me do.
I noticed that people oftentimes act negatively, being mean or evil just for the sake of it, without any reason. Even if we take bullying, let it be in a school or in workplace, people find someone who they think is weird or odd, and hurt them, in physical or psychological ways. Or even in everyday life, when someone is having and arguement I noticed that they'II purposefully bring up quite personal or sensitive things that potentially might hurt the other person. Which is not an arguement at all, just two people throwing insults at each other. They don't even want to discuss things, or try to understand one-another better. Another similar example I noticed is people talking badly about complete strangers, who they met on the streets, or public spaces. Making comments about how that person is poor, homeless, anything. The same things happen in online spaces as well, altough the safety that anonimity holds turns this up a thousand times, making it worse.
I'II be honest here, I never really had the urge to hurt others, or be mean to them. I'm not bothered by the things that other people are annoyed with, or get angry with. Even if I meet someone who I find odd, or weird I just...Go on my way, after all, the lives of other people just isn't my business. They're free to live and act how they want, and I don't have the urge or right in wanting to change them. I found all of this extremely weird, and I still don't understand why most people act like this. It can be quite hurtful when I argue with someone and they just become defensive, mean and get personal out of the blue. That doesn't give anything to the arguement at all, if something then it's destructive even. I consider myself a calm person, and I rarely get weirded out, or get angry and annoyed by the things that others might have an intense reaction to. I also don't really hold agressive urges towards anyone in everyday life, and never had. For the record, I'm not completely docile, or a pacifist. I believe that justice needs to be served, and that it's an extremely important thing, one of the things that shapes, forms and hold the universe together. But in my opinion, justice has nothing to do with being downright evil or mean just for the sake of it. There's no justice in mean words and insults. I'm curious what others might think of this, and what are your personal opinions on the matter, let it be positive or negative. I was always an outcast, so I wouldn't be surprised if this confusion is purely a me-thing, and I'm just the weird one.
