I can tell you from my experience, the first time I did the energy meditation I immediately felt the energy as a tingling sensation. And I wasn't psychically open or anything, I still couldn't see or feel the Gods or energy but feeling energy is really easy. It feels like a tingling/cooling/burning sensation to me (depending on the type of energy I breathe in, blue energy is cooler while white gold is warmer).
The common thing people do wrong is they "try too hard". Are you desperate to get results? If yes, slow down and approach it as a fun experiment. Don't try to achieve anything, as trying too hard creates inner disturbance and prevents you from feeling or experiencing anything.
Also, when meditating, some people instead of focusing on the energy or chakras or whatever they're meditating on they think "Am I doing it correctly? What am I supposed to do next? Is this what I supposed to feel?" and similar thoughts and all their attention is focused on their thoughts and so they notice nothing and can feel nothing. When you overthink and compare things to your expectations or what you're "supposed" to do you're activating your left brain which prevents you from accessing your right brain which is the one that notices subtle things like energy and the Gods.
So, you need to be open. Don't overthink, don't compare, don't expect things. Just pay attention to everything that happens.
