This has to do with the FISA docs. Which if/when redacted will be a mother bomb going off. They've been fighting this like mad. Hence why they tried to prevent Kavanaugh from getting onto the supreme court, how they must have been shitting themselves when he was specifically asked about what the law says in regards traitors...
I think the hope is to delay delay delay till the new demorat House is in place in the new year. Now of course with GHW Bush dead, Dec 5 is declared a day of mourning for that bastard psychopath war criminal. so Comeys testimony is pushed back now to Dec 12.
