Many people still think that our ancestors really didn't give any meaning to color, and that everything was grey and dull.

When I was young, I used to imagine more recent history (first half of 20th century) in black and white only. Because, in my mind there was an obstacle created by old videos, which were always in black and white. It was only much later in life when I started to imagine the past in full color.
