Mind Wandering

I've noticed when I do my early morning meditations my mind tends to wander a lot. It takes me a long time to feel fully alert and I feel groggy and confused. I try to do my meditations (ac, aop, etc) but I keep drifting back to sleep and forgetting where I left off. For example, I will sit up in bed, start aura cleaning, drift off for a few minutes, and then start over. Is there some way I can feel more awake and focused right away (without waking my boyfriend who likes to sleep in as much as possible)? We both start work at 7a and I have to set a bunch of alarms simply to wake up on time in order to get to work. I've thought about meditating just in the evening but I feel like I might start my day badly then (no aop=no protection). Any ideas on being more alert and less confused in the morning? My sleep inertia is pretty bad.
Thank you

I wake up and do a short Yoga set then meditate immediately after, the physical movement fully brakes me out of sleep and energizes me for the day.

Thank you for your advice. Maybe I just need to move around and give myself a little time before starting meditation. I think I might do breathing exercises first as well.
Thanks again!

After waking up I usually walk around, eat breakfast, and start meditating only after that.

Thank you for your advice! I did notice that if I can give myself a few minutes to wake up first I'm not as likely to fall asleep. It seems to be getting a little easier with this habit.

I kind of do that a little bit when I'm listening to some annoying person..
Letting it the mind wander usually is a sign of boredom, it's either because you don't like somebody talking to you and telling you the same old shit? Or you're just bored sitting there trying to figure shit out

Lol true. In the mornings I just sometimes have really bad sleep inertia and it seems if I dont give myself some time to wake up and jump right into meditations I start cleaning my aura, doze off, wake up startled, then try again etc. I am trying to do some breathing exercises and yoga/move around a bit in order to not have this problem. It seems to be getting better
