Happy Samhain to All,

Good evening everyone. I wanted to post and inquire about everyone's meditation positions they use. Personally, my favorite is the traditional cross-legged/lotus position. I like this one as I can visualize the aura and energy much more easily as I my body feels aligned properly to draw energy into it from above and below. It also helps me to "compact" the energy densely into my soul and aura more easily if that makes sense, and prevents me from getting too deep into the "sleepy" stage of a trance where my mind wanders into hypnagogic dreams and loses focus. My only issue is that my back starts to hurt and my legs/feet start to go numb.

My question to you is if you use this position, how do you prevent distracting discomfort? Or is the discomfort simply a feature and not a bug of the meditation? Sitting in a chair is fine for me, but I feel like I certainly do not achieve the same level of quality when it comes to working with energy. If you have any tips and tricks such as using a special pillow, device, or any other kind of position, I am all ears. Thank you!

If your legs and feet go numb, it's because your knees are above your hips. You'll need to work on opening your hip flexors more, to keep knees below hips. Another factor is perhaps not getting enough physical exercise in your day, so your circulation might be a bit slow.

If your back hurts, your alignment might be a bit off (also relating to the above with the knees and hips). Shoulders above hips, but with the natural curve of the back. Do you sit against a wall or pillow? If so, try adjusting a pillow behind your back, see what works better for you. Also if you have a bit of excess weight around your midsection, this can pull the back a bit off-balance.

When properly aligned in lotus pose, your body should feel light and floating.

I lay on my back for my meditations as this is most comfortable for me and I feel energy much easier
