Mala Beads

So a saint gave me a blessed mala beads (Rudraksha) and told me that it was passed down to him by another well respected saint/occultist. However like literally now I checked it, the beads count to 104 + 1 (Meru Bead) and it's not 108!
Initially, it pissed me off because I literally paid this guy for it. F*ing LOT! :?

Well I inquired and found out that it's not compulsive for a mala to be 108, and I was like... yeah.. okay.. :roll:

Later I reminded how HP Cobra/Mageson & also comrade Lydia have told to avoid 108 reps and go for other numbers. So I just wanted to ask if this mala should be used or what is the significance of a 104 + 1 mala beads?

Also, now that I'm writing, what about this + 1 bead? Can we count it as well in reps or not?
Is 104 a good occult number, or 105 (+1, if counts in)

Please help me with this!

Also, If anyone knows, is this related to any square number (total reps, eg: 111 sun; that's all I know lol)

108 is not a bad number.

This has become a widespread misconception by now. What the HPs and Lydia said about it was that the number 108 is bad for workings below 40 days.

For anything from 40 days or above, it is completely fine to use. Also, the most optimal usage of the 108 bead mala is to recite it once, and then turn in it and recite it again. Making 216 reps, which is an overall great, complete and strong number.
