Is 2026 at risk of becoming like the "Metropolis" movie?

I'm asking this because Metropolis is set in 2026. Although I didn't read the book I have watched the movie. In the movie mankind is divided between the Capitalist Jews who lives in a big city in the surface and worker goyim who lives in the subterrans like slaves. Considering that 2022 is the year Soylent Green is set on and many of the things the movie showed came true, would this also apply to Metropolis?
