IO - The Bull Slaying's Mysticism

Slaining oxen (Tauroctony) is full of wide-mysticism and secrets. But I will share one aspect of this.

IO (the Greek goddess) is related to this process. In mythology, IO is said to be turned into a heifer after crossing the Bosporus. Bosporus, that comes from an Ancient Greek word, literally means Boos Poros ("Cow Passage").

As we all know, IO mantra is vibrated to two sides of the soul and is about the duality. Now, going back to the main topic, Bosporus is actually called "Boğaz" (Throat) in Turkish. This comes from the root word "Bogur". If we change the sound just a little bit, it becomes "Böğür". "Böğür" in Turkish means "(one of the two sides of an animal's or human's body)". Just as we vibrate the Mantra to two sides of the soul. It also means "the bodily area between ilium and thorax" which diaphragm is placed.

Further, it is also related to the verb "Böğürmek" which means "To low" of the animal. From this point onwards, this connects to the mysticism about the Throat and the Sound.

Also note that, as this is related, ilium is actually a pair of the said bone and singular one is "innominate bone" which means "unnamed bone". Through Logos, we name it and bring into creation. Logos (Words) comes through Throat and the Sound.

Bull's lowing could be connected to diaphragm and Heart Chakra, that is about the voice and forementioned Logos. This is both the creation but also the destiny as Order (another meaning of Logos, as it's the cause, the chain of reasons).

Going further on the topic, in this symbolism, you will also see a Scorpion grabbing the testicles of the slain animal. It is about the Logos (Order) that does take place after creation, that is which comes next.

Things might seem a bit complex, but it is more about the raw processes of the creation. I do not include Gods in here, but speaking on what is happening within the basic laws.

As for The Gods, they are not symbolized by the Bull, but by the Lion. Demiurge - Creator God is a lion-headed Serpent. That's the Lion's Roar, different than Bull's Low. Serpent, on the other hand, symbolizes life force. While Bull is about parthenogenesis, about division and the whole universe, Lion is an outside force, not from one's own. In this symbolism, Mithras (Apollo) slains the bull and brings order and perpetuates the creation.

In summary, The Universe is symbolized by the Bull. With Scorpion, Bull's creative force becomes in Order (Logos). And with Lord Mithras (Apollo), that is by the hands of Gods and this adds many more mystical elements.

As for Lowing, I believe this is about division, yes, but seems to me more like a natural process. For sure, it is on its way to Logos as predestined, and will bring order to itself, but as universe is a captainless ship without Gods, Gods's Lion symbolism is about that. It is a conscious creation, different than random. Gods direct the ship to this destiny.

You can also think the Ox as Fehu rune, the magical energy of one's inner cosmos.
