Info about Ur

Hey Brothers and Sisters! I was wondering, does anyone here know a
little about the city of Ur? I'm writing a fictional story about
someone who lived in Ur, and I want to give it as much real detail as
I can. Was ur near a river? Any prominent temples to Gods there? Any
information you guys may have would be greatly appreciated; I know
it's very sketchy, but I don't wanna just make stuff up. Hail Father

Ur was modern day Iraq supposedly, at least that's what mainstream scholars would have us believe. If Ur was not Iraq then it may have been modern day Turkey.

<td val[/IMG]NO YOU ARE WRONG Ur was a city not a country. and it was a city-state of the old Summarian empire one of 3 actually it was located near a river and was very advanced. The main god was the goddess of the moon Nanna. the cities were eventually taken over by nomadic warriors after having wars with the other city-states. so for your story it should be about a man because woman had no rights and were not trained to fight or anything interesting.  so for the guy who gave the other guy that shitty info know what the fuck your talkin about.

it is so simple to tape "ur"on the net !you have a lot of information on wikipedia and photos, even if we have to take care with wikipedia.
Ur was a great city and it is linked to the "obeid period".you tape "obeid period" on the net and you will see an amount of photos and informations.in french, there are, then, you can imagine in english ! Hail Satan !
