Hello fellow brothers and sisters,

I am very excited to celebrate Beltane and this will be my first time since my dedication. Upon studies with a lot of the “holidays”, “sabbats” we celebrate, whichever be the proper term. I have noticed indulgence to be mentioned in quite a few.

I will say when I originally dedicated I was in a dark place and relying on substance for most of my life. I am clean now and last year it was my goal to learn moderation. I drink only very occasionally, and I used to smoke marijuana every day. I did a tarot reading about 6 months ago saying that I would need to become sober for the next chapter of my life. Mind you I was skipping through my days to finish up and smoke to watch a movie and would half ass through my meditation to get there. I am very guilty of this and have since completely given up substance. I have since found an understanding for how immature and naive I was to do so at the time.

I believe whole heartedly I understand moderation now. But, I am curious what indulgence truly means for our celebrations? When I hear indulgence I think specifically in alcohol or substance (eg. marijuana) of course nothing like hard drugs or reality altering. I would like to know if it is appropriate to safely and moderately indulge in a glass or two of my favorite beverage and maybe a joint? If it be unnecessary it would be the last time I paid it any mind and have no problem saying no. I just would like to get an idea for how other fellow members take part during these celebrations?

If appropriate to do so I would also like to ask how does this work with meditation? It feels wrong to meditate before as I’m of course now socially active and would leave cause for me to clean my aura again. But, I would feel wrong by meditating when I’m not in total control of my body. Is there anything I should know about this to make the safest decisions?

Thank you for your answers to all
