Most of the content in this writeup comes from Anuj Dhar's podcast regarding the same topic here is the link to it. https://youtu.be/099yZQWXaXE
The clues to British Russian friendship can be found in Indian history. The Indian commies supported British in WW2 and many even cheated on Indian National Army who were allied with German and Japanese by leaking information. While raising Indian flag first time the Indian Prime Minister, Nehru and the ministers took oath under the name of British Monarch. The declaration of Indian independence bill passed in British Parliament is more of granting India dominion status. This is evident from Winston Churchill's letter to British Prime Minister at that time, Clement Atlee. https://www.churchillarchiveforschools.com/themes/the-themes/key-developments-in-british-and-empire-history/was-britain-divided-about-indian-independence-1930-47/the-sources/source-8 has the letter. The archives have obviously given a misleading title to the letter to avoid angering Indians. Here is the original transcript.
In many interviews Lord Mountbatten had stated regarding granting dominion status to India. The interviews are in the book Freedom at Midnight - by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins. Mountbatten demanded India to retain British symbols and insignia in armed forces. India's armed forces still use British symbols. Indian navy as of January 2022 still uses cross of George.
Indian independence being at 15th August 1947 is symbolic with defeat of Japanese and Indian National Army in WW2 as said by Mountbatten. Mountbatten and Nehru both hated Subashchandra Bose. The book India's biggest cover-up by Anuj Dhar has it in detail. Astrologically 15th August is bad but still better than 14th August when Pakistan got freedom. It explains the bad state of India despite having a highly educated population.
For those who dont know IB and RAW is indian equivalent of CIA. IB operates inside India while RAW operates outside.
In 1946-47 the documents burned at Red Fort by IB were so much that the skies remained darkened by smoke for 3 weeks. Some documents remaining gave us many clues. Section 2 of Indian Independence act state that territories of India would be under sovergnity of British Majesty. This act was present in British Parliament statutes till 1976 when it was repealed.
So the thing to think about is that how could Indian constituent assembly reject Indian independence act 1947 and government of India act 1935? British Parliament becomes the mother parliament and this isn't possible. Was this just to fool people? Why didn't Indian Constituent Assembly demand British to recognize India as a independent sovereign nation in 1950 when India become a republic? As per Anuj Dhar and his associates the RTI(right to information) petition filed by him to have the access to the secret conference where India joined commonwealth nations, the Indian government responded by saying such document doesn't exist which is a blatant lie. British government also said same. India continued to have people of British citizenship as chief or air forces till 1954 and navy way till 1980s.
British government officials and army soldiers stationed in India even got pension from Indian government. It is like Vietnam or Taliban giving American soldiers pensions.
In Indian history it is well known about Nehru being weak minded about females is already known and so are his multiple affairs. Edwina was the wife of Lord Louis Mountbatten, the last viceroy of British India. Most people know that Edwina Mountbatten was the wife of Louis Mountbatten but very few people know that she was a dedicated Zionist and was grand-daughter of British Zionist banker Ernest Cassel. According to World War II British correspondent Douglas Reed’s work “The Controversy of Zion”; Ernest Cassel is the same Jewish banker who along with Maurice de Hirsch financed Theodore Herzl’s movement for a World Zionist Organization. Edwina and Nehru shared intimate relationship. It was first political honeytrap in India after freedom. There is a worthy point to note by Anuj Dhar that transfer of power aka Indian independence may have had secret documents.
Letter from ex-MLA Prof Atul Sen to Jawaharlal Nehru on August 28, 1962, and Nehru's reply on August 31, 1962 points this fact out.
Nehru did not say that Bose had died in a plane crash. Nor did he say Bose was not a war criminal or comment on Netaji's presence in India.
As per economic times
Now coming back to the main question with this much British control still on India and Indian independence being conditional by secret clauses, why was India pro Soviet?
Soviet Influence over India is well known. The World Was Going Our Way
Book by Christopher Andrew and Vasili Mitrokhin tells about how deep Soviet influence India had. Before economic liberalization Indian economy was state controlled socialist economy.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_liberalisation_in_India
Gives some idea on this. There are some people who may relish the days of pre economic liberalization but they don't realize that waiting a decade to buy a licensed vespa clone just because government limited production or buying rationed grains from state approved rationing shops was bad. It was a time of rampant black money and money laundering in India because of socialist economy and absurd tax slabs. It was highest in Indira Gandhi's tenure as Prime minister.
1950s
Maximum rate of income tax reduced from 5 annas to 4 annas. Wealth tax comes in. income tax 55% .
1960s
The highest marginal rate on unearned income cut from 88.25 per cent to 81.25 per cent and that on earned income from 82.5 per cent to 74.75 per cent.
1973-74
Eleven tax slabs, with rates from 10 to 85 per cent. The top marginal rate is effectively 97.75.
1985-87
Finance Minister V.P. Singh (1985-87) reduces number of IT slabs to four, cuts top marginal IT rate to 50 per cent.
1990-91
In five Budgets between 1991-96, FM Manmohan Singh reduces IT slabs to three (20, 30 and 40 per cent).
1997-98
P. Chidambaram's 'dream budget' cuts peak rate of income tax to 30 per cent for 150k and above. Manmohan Singh, then in Opposition, criticises the rate cut.
In a country where there is no equivalent of social security the taxes were high back then.
Nehru was ideologically closer to soviets tho he didn't agree to them on more radical issues. Nehru's successor Lal Bahadur Shastri was assassinated in USSR when he visited there as Prime Minister of India.

It is well known from Mitrokhin archives that Indira Gandhi was manipulated by Soviets and she took their help to negotiate with Communist Party Of India and other far left parties to form a coalition government.
With India's pro Soviet socialist stance post WW2 and British era laws and indirect control over India, It becomes evident to even someone with low intelligence that British and Soviets were allied even in cold war and Indian opposition to capitalism was just phoney political moves done by ruling party Congress which ruled for a long time till 2014

My dear Prime Minister,
I am much concerned to hear from my colleagues whom you consulted yesterday that you propose to call the India Bill, “The Indian Independence Bill”. This, I am assured, is entirely contrary to the text, which corresponds to what we have previously been told were your intentions. The essence of the Mountbatten proposals and the only reason why I gave support to them is because they establish the phase of Dominion status. Dominion status is not the same as Independence, although it may be freely used to establish independence. It is not true that a community is independent when its Ministers have in fact taken the Oath of Allegiance to The King. This is a measure of grave constitutional importance and a correct and formal procedure and nomenclature should be observed. The correct title would be, it seems to me, “The Indian Dominions Bill”. I should however be quite willing to support it if it were called, “The India Bill, 1947” or “The India Self-Government Bill”.
I am glad to hear you are considering such alterations.
Believe me,
Yours sincerely,
W.S.C.
The Right Hon. C.R. Attlee, C.H., M.P.

In reply, Nehru wrote:Atul Sen said:I take the liberty of addressing these few lines to you in the matter of the widely prevalent belief that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is not dead. Mine is not mere belief but actual knowledge that Netaji is alive and is engaged in spiritual practice somewhere in India. Not the sadhu of Shoulmari, Cooch Behar, in West Bengal about whom some Calcutta politicians are making a fuss. I deliberately make the location a little vague because from the talks I had with him for months together not very long ago, I could understand that he is yet regarded as Enemy No.1 of the Allied Powers, and that there is a secret protocol that binds the government of India to deliver him to Allied 'justice' if found alive."
Nehru said:I have never heard about any secret protocol about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Certainly, the government of India has not bound themselves to any such thing.
Even if any country asks the government of India to hand him over, it is not going to be agreed to.
Nehru did not say that Bose had died in a plane crash. Nor did he say Bose was not a war criminal or comment on Netaji's presence in India.

This was obtained by Guy Liddel, then deputy D-G, MI5, declassified archives say. Bureaucracy and IB continued that policy till 1975 when Indira Gandhi admonished them during the annual IB conference.
