Hello :)

All of my yoga posts, we need the pictures changed to illustrations done by JoS members. And more illustrated asanas for future posts, such as my current "yoga asana of the day" theme that I'm doing on my profile wall.

With JG BlackOnyx's new PDF editing platform, I can easily put them all into my past posts, removing all pictures that are there now. Translated versions can also easily be updated there.

I’m not sure yet how many illustrated asanas we need, but about 100 would be a great start, and then more can be done later. There’s over 50 in my posts so far. It would also be nice to have some asanas illustrated from a few different viewpoints.

You will be given credit in each post and PDF, or below each illustration if the post contains illustrations drawn by various members. Some of my yoga posts have received over 35 thousand views, not including all the translated versions. Your illustrations will also go in Satan's Library in the JoS!

They can be pencil on paper sketches, or digital, or otherwise. They can be very basic drawings, or more elaborate if you want to get creative, but the focus has to be on the body position. They must be anatomically correct and look clear.

If you are interested, you can send an example to me in DM or email, or post in reply to this thread, any of the asanas listed below, or any other asana you want. I will use the ones below in my upcoming "yoga asana of the day" posts (with credit to you) so it would be nice to do these soon to start the project.

Parsvottanasana
Virasana (basic version, not full lying back)
Mahamudra

I look forward to beginning, and finishing, this project! :)

Actually, I'm not very good at drawing. What I'm doing is not going to be a professional job. That could be a problem.

But I can try if you want.

The thought of serving JoS and the Gods is breathtaking, so I get excited.

If you can't draw, then no. This is only for people who have the talent and ability. I'm not going to risk people getting injured from looking at incorrect illustrations.

Hello, if I understood correctly, you want all of the asanas illustrated and they all should also be in different angles? Or just the more complicated ones?
I could sketch few examples later and you can see if it is good enough or not.

Only the more complicated ones with different angles, and as the project moves along we can see how things develop and what more could be done. This could really expand a lot.

I look forward to seeing your sketches (and of anybody else who wants to participate) :)

I'm very happy to announce that we have 2 artists who will be illustrating yoga poses! They are both very talented, and their illustrations look very professional.

This is a benefit to the expansion of the JoS, as it makes this section of the JoS fully our own, with illustrations by our own members :)

I see different images online. Some have palms down/up, etc.
Could you show examples of the correct version?
Hello :)

Are you asking because you want to draw it, or because you want to do it? I will be posting this in 2 days from now as it has been drawn by an artist.

Regardless, yes there are different versions. BKS Iyangar shows with hands on knees with fingers in Gyan mudra, but for beginners, hands by the floor is better for balance until the knees become more flexible, to support some of the body weight with their hands.

That aside, regarding palms up or down. I think I have written on this before, if I didn't then I will include it in a post soon: Palms up is best for people to feel more uplifted and decrease feelings of stagnation, whereas palms down brings greater stability and grounding. So the hand position can be chosen by the individual based on their needs.

Also, many asanas have variations and slight combinations from other asanas. For any picture I will be using in posts, I do mention different instructions. Perhaps in time we will have illustrations done for all variations and also steps.

Are you asking because you want to draw it, or because you want to do it?
A bit of both. I've been drawing quite a bit lately, but my abilities aren't so great at human anatomy to qualify as a contributor to your posts. I have a journal in mind that will include sketches. I wasn't aware of the difference in palm position. Thank you for enlightening me on that.

I can draw

I need to start drawing pictures again anyway! It would be a good excuse for me to practice! My drawing skills! And I promise you I will send you some nice illustrations!🙂

I guess that's a good thing.
Wanting to help with JoS projects is certainly noble, but there is a skill requirement involved, such as with this or with translations. It is possible that there are no current opportunities available for you, so in that case it is fine to work on yourself, do lots of spiritual warfare, donate money, and so on. All of this is very meaningful to JoS.

I understand. I want to focus on RTR for a while.
It's best to create some time. Your words are very true.

You would also benefit from the rituals of masculine Gods, which can aid your skill development, self-confidence, maturation, and other traits like this.
