I already eat a keto diet and do cardio and lift weights, but I’m not losing weight. I need help with this. I’m almost 250 lbs!
Look, if you strictly follow a ketogenic diet, you will lose weight. It is a simple matter of calories taken in being lower than calories spend in your life, and weight loss happens.
Ketogenic diets are very low on calories generally, because they cut out almost all carbs, which are some of the most calorie dense foods. You'll be eating meat and veggies and taking in 0 sugars. If you do this for 3 months, you will lose weight.
If you don't lose weight, then you aren't doing keto. That said you don't need to follow a specific diet to lose weight. All that matters is to take in less calories than you spend.
I can't tell how many calories you're expending daily, but if you seriously work out, not just 10 minutes of light exercise here and there, but proper one hour long workouts regularly as an example (Maybe two 30 minute sessions daily, maybe a few long gym sessions once every two days, or any variation of such), and aren't completely sedentary, you'll have a caloric expenditure of 2000+ calories depending on your height, maybe upwards of 3000 calories if you're a tall and very hard working man (Yes, there is huge variance depending on lifestyle and biological factors), which in your case I don't expect you to be, otherwise being 250 pounds isn't at all unusual.
In your case though, I'd gauge you don't expend much more than 2000 calories daily, so if you cut out all sugar from your diet and limit carb intake as much as possible, derive most of your calories from meat and other animal proteins, and fats instead, supplemented with vegetables that you like, take in around 1500-1800 calories with enough nutrition so your body has everything it needs to remain healthy, you'll lose weight quickly. Especially if you stick to lower calories for a while, around 1500. Your body will be forced to metabolize the stored fats to supplement your caloric needs, and so long as you supply enough protein and other necessary nutrients, your body won't end up metabolizing your lean mass.
When you reach the weight you'd prefer, raise your caloric intake to be roughly matched with your expenditure, and you will maintain your weight indefinitely.
In your case, since you're not losing weight, you're simply eating too many calories to be losing weight. You can literally lose weight without doing anything, by just eating a lot less calories. Eliminating any sugars from your diet goes a long way in doing that, this includes not so obvious things like fruit juice, or fruits in general! They have a lot of sugar in them, so they aren't nearly as healthy as many people think they are. You don't need much of them. Some people drink a litre or more of fruit juice daily, thinking it is very healthy, but little do they know this 100% freshly squeezed, all natural juice with 0 additives and no added sugar has as much sugar in it as soda.
Doing the low carbs diet right always results in weight loss. If you aren't losing weight, you aren't doing it right, or you aren't actually following this kind of diet at all.
