Been reading up on ToZ. Did my dedication about 3 months ago.

I'm a pretty laid back guy, I don't cause nausea and stay out of trouble. Main motto is "live-and-let live".

There is still a lot I don't understand here: where are the Gods? Why can't they come and see us? Is the world fucked-up beyond saving physically and spiritually?

There's a thousand questions I have.

The Gods are with us; they are not some legend that exists only in stories. They watch over us; the reason for "why they don't come to us" is that Earth is Our Paradise, and we must take care of it. They provide us with the necessary things and tools, but it is up to us to keep our home together. The world is not broken; it is just in a phase of decline. Nice, good luck on your journey! There are already very elevated beings walking on Earth like HPHC. They are the representatives of the Gods here on Earth. We can say that the Gods ARE on Earth and this isn't even figurative because HPS Maxine is literally a Goddess now.
Very high ranking Gods can't come here because they are very incompatible with this world. But regardless, astrally they can help us and see us. There is literally no need for them to come here physically.

The Planet is going to be fine... but right know the situation is grotesque. Nobody has any idea of the reason why they were born (mostly didn't even notice) or where we came from. And the main reason we have a "society" is to feed us enough bullshit entertainment (psychological warfare) to make us forget who and what we are. But nothing is lost, this is why Revolutions exist.

They can and do come and see us. Most people aren't just open to higher dimensions yet and can't use their higher senses to see them. Humans have been closed off psychically for thousands of years, but soon we'll be able to gain our powers back collectively and the enemy who held us back will be no more.

On the individual level, you can practice meditations and other related exercises to open yourself up to higher worlds.
