Greetings! I need some clarification on what I've found here: https://templeofzeus.org/Our_God
It's stated there that Zeus is known as both Thor and Odin in Scandinavian Pantheon, and this slightly confuses me. While I believe that all Aryan Pantheons are dedicated to the same Gods under different names, I always considered that each God is a single entity not represented in the same Pantheon twice. I came to the conclusion that Odin might be Hermes because of the following reasons:
Both are psychopomps — they guide souls to the afterlife.
Both are associated with knowledge and cunning.
Both are travelers and wanderers.
Both are connected to language: Hermes as the god of communication, Odin as the discoverer of the runes.
Both are patrons of hidden knowledge and magic.
Hermes is known as the God who can grant his followers the power to remember past incarnations - Pythagoras claimed that he received such ability from Hermes and could name 4 of his past incarnations.
Tacitus claimed that germanic tribes worship Mercury (Roman name for Hermes) the most, while also believing that Thor was Hercules (probably false since Thor shares similarities with Zeus, and it's understandable why Thor and Zeus are considered the same God in the list above).
Will be happy to read any thoughts on that matter!
