In my European History class the Professor recently
went over the Code of Hammurabi. I remember Azael's
page on JOS mentioned that the code has been drastically
altered and the version we know today resembles nothing
of the original.

My question is, does anyone know anything about the
original laws in the Code of Hammurabi?

I have no idea. I think the Code of Hammurabi was in a Gnostic bible I had, but I don't have it anymore. It probably wasn't the original anyway.

I'm sure it wasn't. I doubt the Christians would
accurately reproduce the law code of ancient Sumer in
the Gnostic bible. I've noticed that the laws in the
Code of Hammurabi sound distinctly Christian. Such as
law 195 which states: "If a son strikes his father, his
hands shall be hewn (cut) off." I am convinced the Code
of Hammurabi was indeed altered, which is a shame. It
would have been nice to know more about the legal structure
of ancient Sumer.

Thank you for replying HP Jake.
