Should resin/plastic cavity fillings be avoided at all costs? I know that ceramic/porcelain is out there, but I can't afford it if I can even find it. Plastic is said to have hormone disrupting properties so I want to know how serious that is. Apparently it's possible for the body to heal cavities on its own through diet.

You should ensure that the hospital you choose is reputable and offers good service. As far as I know, a harmful chemical called BPA is used in plastic fillings. Resin fillings contain less BPA compared to plastic, and BPA-free options can be provided during the filling process. You might consider resin fillings instead of porcelain/ceramic. Of course, if you can afford it, porcelain/ceramic fillings are the best option.

I haven't come across any information suggesting that the body can heal cavities through diet alone.

Lot's of articles will pop up if you search something like "healing cavities naturally." This article links a study.

It's good to know resin has less BPA than plastic. I think that's what's available to me. I asked the dentist I went to if theirs has BPA and they said no, but I feel like my question didn't register and they only want the money for the work. Like they answered on autopilot and weren't listening. Is any amount of BPA okay, though?

My advice to you is to choose only BPA-free fillings. Regulations concerning BPA have been implemented in the EU and many other countries, restricting products containing it. You should stay away from any amount of BPA.

In most countries, we have right to know the contents of materials used in medicine. I think you should have a thorough discussion with your doctor about BPA.
